Ken Langone: Trump’s Tax Bill is Going to Unleash Economic Forces

Ken Langone is one of few men worth idolizing. From Wall Street to founding Home Deport to donating an unrestricted $200 million to NYU’s Medical Center, Langone is a perfect example of rags to riches and then using said riches for good. The NYU Medical Center is now called NYU Langone; and might I add that it has the single best cafeteria ever for a hospital. If you’re on the east side of NY, trust me when I tell you it’s worth the visit, if only for their high end coffee machines.

Ken Langone visited CNBC to discuss the Trump tax bill, saying that if it passed it would mark an end to the Democratic Party because it would ‘unleash economic forces all to the good for a lot of people.’

The tax cuts are simply a tool to speed up the destruction of the country’s balance sheet, and to convince the plebes to cut social security and Medicare.

It’s a zero sum game. The gubermint will not reduce its spending. They will simply replace lost revenue with more borrowing, indenture the peasants even more and then replace their 401k with debt, sorry, bonds.

Been to Langone a number of times. Not a lover of hospitals but I didn’t get to try the coffee so difficult for me to judge.

I don’t work too far from there so I’ll take a walk over there on a nice day to give it a try.

Maybe get some surgery while I’m over there.

Go in for the open heart surgery. My Mother did that and had a wonderful time. The cafe is top notch. You’ll see.

WA St is fortunate to have private donations by the billions from the obvious donors.

What you may never see, unless personally affected, is the resources directed toward families in Childrens, St Jude etc.

If you want to donate or contribute in a meaningful way, give to Ronald McDonald house, e.g.

Maybe we should re-pay our national debt with an ICO that we create? I mean it should be pretty fucking easy to say “We created this magical marvelous magnificent and amazing crypto coin that you must get your hands on immediately”. Pay those fucking Chinamen off with that and be done with it. It could be the fucking MAGACoin.

Very nice of him to donate to the hospital and all. But his trying to play victim because this bill will cost him in taxes, is laughable …as I’m sure you know.

Trump only cares about the 1%. BTW, you do realize that Apple and Microsoft alone have over $100B in overseas cash that will benefit nicely from Trump’s repatriation rates.

Trump cares about who keeps him in power, the deplorables. Offshore money is not new money for corps. It is new tax for us gov.

Maybe just have each state pay their own, and nothing more.

Of course, where would almost all of the Red states get their shortfalls from?

IronBoy, why do you hate America so much?

Monetary policy has been doing the heavy lifting since ‘09. Time for fiscal policy to take up the slack. I think he’s right. I’m just not sure how smooth the transition from monetary to fiscal will be.

Agree with fiscal policy vs monetary policy.

However, I do not understand how supply-side econmics will work in an economy wityh record coroporate earnings and ultra-low interest rates. Tax cuts should be an economic decison, but Republicans think of it as a Religion. Even Mnuchin’s and Trump’s own Treasury Dept couln’t fudge the numbers to make them work out.

Instead, they will cut taxes to people that don’t spend money, and then cut benefits to people that don’t have money. That’s a brilliant way of stimulating the economy.

My only question is how much Trump’s base is willing to personally econmically sacrafice for social gains.

Is there now enough wealth in our country so that, for the first time in history, wealth disparity like we have now can persist indefinitely? Just give people enough to be kept fed and their TV droning ..and sprinkle in some identity politics and fear as needed.

I don’t think so. The pendulum will swing, probably in an uncomfortable fashion for most.

End of the Democratic party? No, they are married to social policy. If the economy rolls big the Dems will not touch the corporate tax rate for a long, long time. They will still run on equality and free sex change operations.
    Stay long and prosper.
