I was happy to see that Trump was staying with the anti-DC-establishment theme in his speech and I have no problem with him not reaching out to comfort US citizens who imagine that his is everything the media said he is. But I do wish that when he was speaking to the world that he would have told our friends, potential friends, and trading partners that we are all going to rise together. Instead, he struck a theme that the US was going to prosper at their expense. A dumb way to open negotiations with the ROW. After-all, the rest of the worlds pols/deal makers have domestic political considerations as do we.
Typically I try to stray from making politically comments, but you seem like a sensible person ferd. I don’t believe he said that the US was going to prosper at the EXPENSE of others, but more so that Trump wants to make sure the general American population’s needs are met first. In anything, when someone or something does better than its peers, it always has a negative consequence on the rest of the landscape. But in what world would our closest ally or our deepest enemy not want to be better than the United States? They all want to hold that title belt. We’ve got a ton of issues in our own country- education issues, too much poverty, class imbalance, crime (I live in Chicago and grew up in the Detroit area so I’m familiar with it), lower quality healthcare, etc. Let’s address these issues here first, then help everyone else because if they’re not fixed here, then how can we help everyone else?
Trump didn’t say it but it can be interpreted that way. It’s a zero sum game. Better deals for the US means worse deals for the other guy.
Regardless, Trump is a deal maker and he is already negotiating. He’s putting the other countries on notice from the get go to soften them up. I imagine other countries are already considering what they’re prepared to give up. They’re already negotiating against themselves which is exactly what The Donald wants them to be doing.

Almost everyone here drinks the Kool Aid, believing the America’s most trusted news source, Fox, is some kind of underdog, believing that HRC received more positive press coverage overall than DT, just because she had more endorsements from newspapers. If you endorse someone but bash them unmercifully in your paper, it doesn’t help them.
