Americanism Not Globalism: Trump Fires Off Salvo Against Companies Leaving America for Cheaper Labor

The experiment of globalism worked wonders for backward countries bedraggled by low wages and onerous living standards. Over the past 30 years, America’s best companies packed up and left in order to take advantage of horrendous working conditions, slave labor, and a corrupt American government who permitted this to happen without a tax consequence. At the same time, America was trained to consume — absorb massive amounts of debt, in order to fuel the engine of globalism.

At the heart of the Trump contract with America is to make an effort to bring back manufacturing jobs — in order to create a better middle class and become a more competitive exporter of goods. In order to do this, tariffs have to be applied to companies who ship goods into the country. The trade off is higher prices at Walmart and a shift away from consumerism to a slightly more austere lifestyle — doing away with a toxic shop till you drop culture for something more productive.

In an early morning tweet storm, President elect Donald Trump warned American companies not to even think about moving manufacturing overseas for cheaper labor — for there will be a reckoning in the form of 35% tariffs.

Globalism was great for equity holders, the wealthiest 2% in the country, and a slew of C-level execs who’ve moved factories out of the US, realizing huge profit windfalls who then ingratiated themselves with absurd bonuses. Everyone else has been hoodwinked with the idea that cheap shit at Walmart brimming with low-quality products was the best America had to offer — when in fact the country had been hollowed out and is now peering over the edge of a debt mountain almost too high to fathom — let alone think about paying down.

Somehow, someway, delusional Wall Street will ignore these statements and continue to make bullish bets on China.

Many have spoken about the ills of global labor arbitrage but I don’t recall anybody actually doing anything about it before. For sure Trumps balls swing low.

Nevermind the fact that these same companies will simply raise the price of their goods by 35%, and Trump will be silent about raising the minimum wage. Therefore, a nice 35% hit on those who already cannot afford to shop at Walmart.

Too little, too late. Trump needed to be president 30 years ago, before all of these companies left the US, and the rest of the world lacked the ability to compete.

All this is going to do is make America worse than it already is.

Fly we are not shills. We just passed economics class. Tarrifs and protectionism fails. Everytime. It is artificial trade manipulation. You pull on one string expecting nothing to happen elsewhere and boom. It fails. Prices will have to accommodate. We will lose our ability to compete. And yes… the money will go to China. George Washington had to borrow money to get to his inauguration.

Do not question God. God does not punish men in vain. We are deserving of everything that happens to us. You decided to make yourself a political figure. Political figures get treated like shit. Deal with it.

        Man up.

So you want everyone here to live on the very edge of the third world like South Africa for example? Your parents likely enjoyed some prosperity home. But those oceans of comfort zone are going away especially in Europe now. So I guess if you want to continue the equalizing the world your standard of living will be dropping quite fast.

globalism is simply profit-greed and profit-hordism by the top percent who doesn’t even want to pay their less well-off neighbors and country-men and -women a fair wage. So in the old days, they kidnapped Africans and made slaves out of them, gave a few jobs to the locals watching over their no-wage slaves and the rest of the poor Americans were left unable to compete with no-wage slaves and lived out their lives dirt-poor, without hope of rescue.
The modern-day version of slavery, with its higher profit-margins for the already wealthy one percenters, hence fewer well-paying jobs for ones less well-off neighbors and countrymen & -women, is the so-called globalism with its off-shoring of jobs as well as open borders to admit wage-undercutting non-Americans into the workforce, which help to keep poor Americans poor or dirt-poor, even scrounging for the next meal via government handouts.
Both Republicans and Democrats took part equally in this scheme; the Republicans to have higher profit margins for their masters and the Democrats handed out government subsidies to get votes and keep the populace from rioting and revolting. They invented junk food to keep them fat and dumb, unable to revolt or even think past their next dumb-downing favorite sit-com or sports game.

Enter Trump. Game over, hopefully. Hence the backlash of the complicit in the whole scheme, MSM and all their brain-washed victims.

Very true, yet most Confederate soldiers did not own slaves. Signed up and died anyways. 3% of Southerners owned the majority of slaves.

And in 2016 the working man elects a real estate mogul that has himself moved jobs to the developing world.

CLD and WLB might as well join them.

Americanism is an ignorant ideology like pretending the monster under your bed will go away just because you close your eyes and put your favorite country music on. The cat is out of the bag. This is a global globe. America either takes it all or we lose. We can’t sit here and pretend nothing will happen. 1939 all over again.

Free trade means Columbia can sell as much cocaine as they want.

I can choose not to be insured without paying a penalty.

I can grow weed and sell it like Phillip Morris sells cancer causing tobacco

AIG should have been allowed to fail

but it was bailed out with government (the people) funds

But bailing out college students is Communism?

Communism for the rich. Debt slavery for the poor.

Had the bailout cut down consumer credit card and mortgage debts…

More money would have been spent by American consumers in the US as opposed to having Wall St send it to China.

Minimum wage hikes would be absorbed by Amazon profits. Poor people are not going to invest in Macau Casinos. Seattle economy is growing after a wage hike. Fake news?

Although I use my central air maybe 10 days a year, it is time to upgrade to a more efficient unit. Even if a Carrier unit costs more, which I expect, I’ll buy it; provided it was made in USA.

Always look at the labels, you want quality and then buy. A man I deal with in marine and rigging will not offer the China products because the castings have not performed. So you want an Arrow Stapler you have two choices a US one or a China one both name brand. The China one is fancied-up with soft grip and it costs a bit more even. You get my drift?

Price is all that matters to the vast majority of consumers, as evidenced by Walmart and Amazon. If people cared about quality over price, China would have never become the producer it is.

The problem now is not only that production has gone overseas, mainly to China and Mexico, but automation has taken a huge toll on the working class. Machines have replaced people’s jobs, and those jobs will never come back, not matter what Trump’s plans are.

Trump has proven to be a shrewd businessman. Having several of his business go bankrupt was his way out of debt back in the 90’s. Seems like he has the same plan for the US.

Having mid 1900’s arguments in a 2000’s world. Convince people these non existent jobs will come home, it must be a nice warm blanket. Hopefully they remain dumb enough to vote against their own interests in the future, before they realize the world and technology has changed. Peak human usefulness as far as “business” goes.

      Josh

You can’t prove a damn thing you just said. The problem with all of you fuckers is an inability to think for yourselves. You merely parrot nonsense that someone else told you and believe totally BULLSHIT stats that shills publish.

VERY SIMPLE EXPLANATION FOR YOU. Try to keep up.

When you permit heathen savages enter the country unchecked for cheap labor or permit companies to close factories and import back here WITHOUT PENALTY, you encourage lower wages. Hence, productivity is at 1981 levels. Don’t you fucking imbeciles understand the first thing about macro economics?

Moreover, this isn’t capitalism, but communism, where everyone at the bottom gets equalized under low wages and the elite flourish. The numbers do not lie. Corporate profits at record highs. CEO compensation at record highs. American wages flat for DECADES.

The way it has always been and will be is tariffs will be levied and protective barriers will be created in order to prevent crony capitalists take advantage of the American people — helped by a corrupt domestic govt.

If you cannot understand this, you are a god damned idiot.

Also, and let it be noted. China doesn’t play by the rules. They rig their currency. The dump product on our shores BELOW cost subsidized by their govt to break our companies. They scuttle environmental deals, like this http://www.reuters.com/article/us-trade-environment-idUSKBN13T0MX in order to rape and pillage. You little shits have been getting drummed for so long, you think it’s normal.

Guess what? It isn’t. While Wall Street and many of you might be doing well, there are tens of millions stuck with shitty BBY jobs.

None of what Trump is calling for is protectionism. Trade deals were ALWAYS this way, up until the globalist scum worked out a way to have their cake and eat it too. NAFTA and these free trade deals are the death knell to our economy.

After 30 years of globalism, we have $20t in national debt, a rancid infrastructure and all time high deficits and personal debt.

      IT DID NOT WORK.
