I just had some oatmeal that tasted salty. Sometimes, my insistence to avoid sugar goes a bit too far. I will be the first to tell you that. However, our food supply is poisoned by chemicals and shit (literally). I find it difficult to eat without thinking about what I am ingesting. Naturally, the men with long beards and full mustaches decry organic food to be for the effeminate. They boast while greedily feasting over bowls filled with carcinogens, then die of brain cancer shortly thereafter.
What is the price you are willing to pay to fuck the people who poison your water and food supply? For the average pleb, the solution is very simple. Fuck them while treating yourself. Shop at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s and buy organic only. I refuse to support the dick-suckers who try to fuck me with their chemicals. Sadly enough, eating healthy is expensive these days. Most Americans sustain themselves on Taco John’s, Mcdonald’s or Murder King. Sometimes they “treat” themselves to “healthy” food via Chipotle or Panera Bread.
It’s all shit. Both Panera and Chipotle use franken-meat, laden with e-coli, and their meals are geared to support the households of your local cardiologist.
Over the past 5 years, Le Casa del Fly has made wholesale changes to what we eat and where we shop. I dine out about 1-2 times per month, as opposed to 3 per week a few years ago. When we dine out, soda is never consumed. As a matter of fact, my two youngest children (8,7) have never tasted soda. It is, without a doubt, extraordinarily unhealthy and does nothing to promote growth.
How does one make money off this trend? If I was interested in buying organic retailers, I’d position in HAIN, WFM, TFM, BGS, CALM, HANS, UNFI and short MON.
Eating healthy requires discipline. Most people are too busy to care about themselves. In many respects, we are all fatalistic in that regard. However, I not only view eating healthy as something that helps me; but as something to punish the purses of greedy vendors of toxins.

UPDATE:
amen.
fuck nasty eats.
ps: omnivore’s dilemma is insightful.
“Naturally, the men with long beards…”
ZZTop?
The market is so dull I am looking forward to watching The Papa John’s Bowl-Oops, I mean Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
Off to chase a bear out of my yard.
I would reconsider the inclusion of HANS due to their production of energy drinks.
Correct. I only put it there as an alt to PEP, KO.
oatmeal sits in bins for months before consumption..you’re probably eating more mold and spores growing on the shit than the shit itself..you’re eating healthy? no- you’re being fed lies.
organic? gimme a break..that shit grows in cow feces.ever heard of ecoli
Even the CEO from WFM says he sells mostly bad unhealthy shit pretending to be good for you..why? cause it sells
on a sidenote: STKL could be interesting in the space.
Great post – we don’t have a WFMI or Trader Joes close, but pay extra in our local grocers for organic produce.
Eating right, just like exercise and trading requires a certain amount of personal discipline that a lot of folks just don’t have.
Fly – noticed you have HANS on your list. Just like soda, no way I let them drink Monster or any of the other energy drinks. Great stock, though.
Agree. HANS is not healthy. But they promote “healthier” soda, separate from energy drinks
Going organic has been and always will be expensive, or rather, reflects the treu cost of food. Simply put, the world cannot grow enough food to sustain 7B peeps without GM seed, without synthetic fertilizer and without consuming copious amounts of petro chemical and fuel. Unsustainable at its very core and I just have to wonder what will precipitate the inevitable crash in foodstuffs that is bound to come.
A good friend of mine owns a decent size dairy operation which he is trying to go all organic with. He fields look terrible. Weeds everywhere and vastly reduced crop yields even though he is using state of the art organic farming practices. You can’t get 200 bushel per acre from your corn ground using organic farming techniques.
So the choice is; does one gamble on the carcinogen laced canned good on the local grocery shelves and die slowly, maybe years down the road? Or does one starve when the world goes organic?
I am ignorant to farming. However, I do believe there has to be a better way than what we have now.
there is no such thing as “state of the art” organic farming. it is real simple plant a seed water it and see what you get.
Eating well will not change anyone’s status as part of the ultimate statistic. Living long is fine and dandy, but what happens afterward is most deserving of our attention.
ur a moron..concerned about what happens “afterwards” ?? instead of the time we actually have on earth..ur more concerned about myth and assumption and belief? live the life u have now dumbo
Just as I thought. This moron is serving the pablum to the masses while hoping we will eat shit and die younger, all in the Republican plan to “save” social security. Whatta woose!
people r too busy to care about themselves, great point, garbage in garbage out…
in a blatant attempt to raide my view count – here’s a funny photoshop I just created for a weekly online contest:
http://ibankcoin.com/kcscott/2011/12/27/2012-picture-we-will-never-see/
Cheesecake Factory is healthy food, right?
Glad to see someone else has some common sense when it comes to what we eat and their kids.. Garbage in garbage out…
Another thing is cell phone use-age… People use their cell phones all the time holding them up to their freaking ears.. You might as well stick your head in the microwave .. brain cancer totally.
But hey you cant see the waves frying your brain so it must be ok…
Short ko while your at it… coke eats your freaking gut out.
Go long water… ha ha who would that be?
Thanks for your post..
It’s not as difficult as people think and it does not require GM anything. Anyone with a small yard can produce a bounty of organic fruits and veggies. Seed companies including $MON have varieties that can be tailored to specific micro-climates and conditions. Like a lot of things nowadays, the public, the media, and our politicians are behind the curve.
you’re nuts..I grew organic..that head of lettuce I grew after all was said and done cost 40 bucks! water, time, labor, fish fertilizer, raised beds, soil, all the spf I had to wear under that fucking sun. shut up already..you don’t know what yer talking about.
When the fly votes with his wallet whole civilizations tremble.
organic farms are easy to spot. they look like a landfill. the use of plastic makes them all a mess. also unless you have been to the farm “organic” is maybe “organic”. most local farmers markets are all normal crops. the produce has to be small to be the real deal.
My brother-in-law grows organic fruit. Big operation, full multi-million dollar packing plant, dozens of sales staff……
Expanding to South America to grow year round.
Pretty complex stuff, not simply…..put a seed in the ground and watch it grow.
Perhaps posting about stuff you know more about would be nice.
i was a farmer. of course there are ways to help with pests and disease but they are not complex. laying plastic to block the sun or using bugs to kill other bugs is simple in my mind.
everyone must watch “From the farm to the fridge” on youtube…devote 11 minutes to it
Soda is incredibly unhealthy and terrible for your grill. Drink enough soda and you can look like JakeGint’s Kentucky neighbors.

Back in 1976 or 1977, when I was in a private Hong Kong elementary school, one of its students had coca cola everyday even for breakfast. The school reported on the public speakers that this student was taken to the hospital to be treated for stomach damage due to coca cola.
You don’t necessarily need to spend a lot of money. Buy organic grains and legumes in bulk fro WFM. Supplement it with fresh produce. Avoid meat and packaged goods. Your bill wont be bad at all.
The long haul play here…
Waste Management (WM).
cwst … small cap growth
WM has a nice 4.13% yield as well.
Garbage in…garbage out…
HAHAHA at thinking that oatmeal does not equal sugar. That shit breaks down into sugar quicker than your trades go bad.
BANNED.
Refined sugar is what UI speak of you knavish dolt.
Agreed…from a foodie Chef turned foodie investigator. lolol
On the topic of organic food, I broke down and bought some expensive organic romaine lettuce from Whole Foods earlier this month, and found it was not only the best tasting lettuce I’ve had yet, but it kept in the fridge longer than the other bagged salad lettuce I had been buying.
Fly, that’s a great point about needing discipline to eat healthy. I find myself trying to eat healthy about 1/2 the time during the week, only to cave in and buy a greasy burger later in the week.
But at least I’ve been able to give up the french fries, usually substituting with a side-salad if available.
Best advice for eating healthy (I forgot where I heard it): “If it doesn’t fly, swim or run and isn’t a green vegetable, don’t eat it.”
You will be a lean mean fighting machine on that diet but you suckers probably don’t have the fortitude to stick to something like that.
Excellent, a thinker, must be eating organic.
Good water is also essential, if one knows anything about optimum health they use reverse osmosis for drinking water while bigger players have full home systems for showering as well. If you know even more you will pick up a de-ionizing filter which will take out 80% of any remaining potential radioactive particles if any.
I like this company all American with good parts they have commercial products and am not affiliated in any way but am posting almost as a Christmas present for those that could benefit. I bought multiple systems for my family members and if you buy a few you can get a discount. http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/ro-45-detail.htm
Just a note on Chipotle, they have some non-hormone injected free range meat available and that is unusual.
Not everything at Whole Foods is organic, the best grocer in the country is Jimbo’s in San Diego with 5 locations – the deli and bakery is almost all 100% organic.
Next for supplements the best multi vitamin I’ve found is Dr. Ron’s Ultra Pure Doc’s Best. Couple that with Perque brand Buffered vitamin C powder with Perque brand repair guard and a pro-biotic called Perque Digesta Guard. Bio-quercetin found in repair guard is the highest anti-oxidant ORAC value. This is a formula for the fountain of youth using organic vitamins.
These products can counter inflammation which I believe can create disease (sugar can cause inflammation). Trying to eat some water rich foods and alkaline foods (usually raw or something like avocado) really boosts health versus processed/cooked foods.
Pay now (preventative) or pay later.
I have lived in San Diego for 13 years and never heard of Jimbo’s. I will have to check them out. I buy most of my meat from Seisel’s in Clairemont who claim to be grass fed from Iowa farms.
This streams on Netflix. Aside from the “juicing” component covered, focus on the input factor and how diet IS real. It’s an interesting story in addition to being informative, and the main character is a futures trader in Australia!

Organic food is a scam to rob you. GM food is just fine, not carcinogenic nor unhealthy. There is DNA in everything we eat. Proper cooking and food prep is all that is necessary for sanitation. If KO and PEP put out products with carcinogens the Class Action Attorneys would be all over them.
Restaurants put out fatty, sugar laden meals because that’s what people will come in and buy. We naturally crave sugar and fat, as our ancestors had to live out in the forest somewhere and often faced starvation. Today the main problem we have today is curbing our excessive appetites.
If you want to promote health don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t use drugs except as prescribed by a doc, and get some exercise. Giving up coffee and eating organic will not overcome the above items.
Indeed. “Organic” foods is just a marketing technique. Fresh good-looking produce is the way to go. Sometimes, regular produce looks fine… if it doesn’t, then I’ll turn to the organic stuff. Organic foods need to drop the “No GM foods” qualification before I can take them seriously.
IDIOTS.
You cannot see chemicals with the eye. Also, it’s the very chemicals I speak of that make the veggies look so good.
All ignoramuses decry organic food to be a scam. You, Sir, are without common sense, small field tool of society.
I do not fear chemicals. Health problems in this country arise from lack of exercise and indulgences in fatty meats, and simple sugars that you avoid. Fine. The chemicals used to kill critters trying to eat my food before the farmers get to it, are not causing any health epidemics. Organic foods are not a “scam”, in that they believe in their farming practices leading to healthier food. However, proponents of organic food are much more ignorant than the top food scientists working for Tyson, General Mills, etc.
I know PETA tends to be a bit radical, but they claim organically raised livestock is just as poorly treated as regular livestock. See link:
http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-food/free-range-organic-meat-myth.aspx
This is a major issue and I think the only way to make a difference is to put politicians in congress who give a shit.
COSTCO has organic produce in size! Perfect for loading up the juicer!
Irradiation (a dirty secret) kept my “organic” broccoli “fresh” in my fridge now for almost 3 weeks. That, they are not obliged to disclose. I GROW and BUY local so THAT “under the rug” fact should be looked at and we should RISE UP! DEMAND TO KNOW HOW YOUR FOOD IS TREATED FROM THE GMO’S THRU THE IRRADIATION…. Re: the suspicious, expensive broccoli: I tossed it in the compost. I did it once with cheap broccoli several years ago–non-organic; it did not even decay in a compost pile—must have had Monsanto roots.
Lots of good advice here. A nice diversion from the markets. Bottom line is to do what you can and make slow changes for the good. Probably the best real investment one can make.
Obviously organic food correlates positively with musical taste. Also, “…and short MON” was a subtly clever one.

Fly – check out some Dan “the Man” McDonald and also David Wolfe.
Get a juicer and a Vitamix ASAP!
Love the discussion thread. Good exercise, good healthy food, love, laughing and finding your passion imho makes for one great life.
For Ag plays, China’s top story tonight is how China Govt is saying “taking away farmland to give to megafarms is not such a great idea..and the small farmers should grow their stuff even if means leaving the big city to return home to family farms”..not sure why Wen is saying that.
It can be expnsive to eat organically. First, one must stop with the prepared foods. So often I look at the buggies in our local grocers and they are loaded with absolute SHIT, pizza pops and all kinds of preapared dinners. That shit is far more expensive than buying and preparing your own meal. IF you have the means then you can expand to organic like Le Fly. Just get off the fast foods and the preapred SHIT !!! for startes just get off the prepared foods and fast food. That is all.
Well said. Ha, ha. Blow up Monstersanto in the meantime.
I use stevia or agave nectar instead of sugar, both organic… no any additives http://www.naturalnews.com/029057_agave_nectar_stevia.html
Stick with stevia
Everybody wants to eat healthy and live a long life. My Mom and Dad both died in 2011 ages 88 and 89. Their quality of life was the shits and I hope to hell I leave this earth before I get in their condition. What a fucked up way to go in a nursing home and not knowing their own son’s face. Pass the chicken fried steak and gravy please.
om fkn g… i had to turn the video off 60 sec into it. think we’ll have green salads for dinner.
I’m all for organic, and agree with Fly on the hideous toxic breath of fast-food eating America, but WHY did Fly have ta fuck with Chipolte?? Gotdam, I thought I’d found some toxin-free SpicFood-Heaven there, now my burrito-bubble has burst. Well, then, Fly, what’s up with those cigars and pipes always hangin’ from your own piehole, eh? Think their “non-toxic”? Right, “you don’t inhale”.
I agree wholeheartedly Fly. Was having the discussion at lunch today about this subject. Anyone who doubts the benefits of organic food, moderation and exercise deserves the fate that awaits them. Between hormone-laden meats, overprescribing antibiotics, girls on birth control at much younger ages, we are producing mutant children. True exercise is a very important part of the equation, but with the processed foods, corn syrup and other chemicals in today’s typical diet, it is an uphill climb. I’m lucky that despite my own bad habits, my wife is raising my daughters to not only eat but LIKE fruits and vegetables. Here is to healthy living in 2012.
Get them into drinking kefir. My Lifeway (LWAY) drinks are great and full of protein, calcium AND can be thinnned a bit with organic juice for a great snack. It’s also naturally lowfat. Check the yogurt area in your stores! Lifeway just sent me 10 coupons for a fabulous discount.
Went through some of Tony Robbins programs this year. The final day of his Unleash The Power Within seminar is dedicated to healthy living and a healthy lifestyle.
I’ve been a vegan since then, with the occasional sidestepping for the holidays and when there’s delicious pizza in front of me. The energy benefits can’t be debated, it’s incredible.
I was also supposed to cut out alcohol but i really enjoy craft beer.
I got into UNFI @ 44 last March; I like what they do. I just sold though and only lost $67.00–NO BIG DEAL. LWAY needs help and could possibly take my advice and get into healthcare with their ORGANIC “more than yogurt” probiotic kefir products. The p/e is BAD, and the stock is DOWN. Keep your eyes on this <10 dollar stock, as they may add super "doctor-recommended" additional probiotics that hospital staff and patients would find a great alternative to hospital food. Try the product: they'll send you coupons.
EZPW is a legal pawn lender/buyer and they supply small home farming equipment (for we organic “Yardeners”) with a summer spike as they sell rototillers, mowers, gold, diamonds, guitars, sports equipmemnt… They only deal in big ticket items and their stores are small and easy to navigate–employees STAY, too. It’s set to hit close to 40 and is under 28 ala minute! P/E is 11 and they have been operating for over 20 years.
