I guess I’ll just keep NSC as my stock of the year pick. The 20% gain since I picked it last year, plus the decent divvies, make it a solid, not great, part of my portfolio. But, if I could pick an equity under $2 a share, I’d take LWLG. I swear it is going to explode this year.

Actually, In April 2009 I was focused in on the imbalance of Shanghai Copper and no one could explain it to me. I could see it forming a bubble and decided that it would be a great lesson to follow its evolution of if to study what is a bubble and what makes it pop. Soros says he spots bubbles and buys them, but reading his earlier stuff he had the same learning curve in trying to understand the metrics of bubbles…everyone just says bubbles pop, when they pop…but I think there are a lot of tells, I just need to learn them.

Have you seen the TDAmeritrade commercial with a bunch of type A dill weeds spouting out about all the great services they’re getting? One tough guy is walking from the subway train the the escalator muscling people out of the way as he says “They’ve got online trading specialists I can call for help.” He is so impatient to get on the escalator that he slaps the guy in front of him on the back to get him onto the escalator faster. The guy he’s slapping on the back appears to be a schmuck that needs to get the hell out of the way, important trader coming through. If state income taxes are a concern, Texas and Florida are two warm places. I think at Fly’s position in life, he could maintain a place in New York City to enjoy the best a city can offer, so different surroundings elsewhere would not be oppressive..
With a family, there are many things to consider. I’m single, and enjoyed living in Miami as a young man, and more recently in Los Angeles, where the seamy underbelly of the city was at first fascinating, but ultimately not a good thing for me.
Life is precious and should be cherished, and your children are your finest gift to life.
We think that Fly and his family should move to Mayfield. There is a lovely house you can move into on Mapleton Drive although it is a little expensive at $6,500.00. It is a swell colonial with a keen picket fence. Your kids can go to Mayfield High when they are older and the Grant Ave. Elementary School is very good especially if you get Miss Landers as your teacher. Mrs Fly will be welcome to join our PTA. Plus we hear President Eisenhower will start to build something called Interstate Highways so your commute to work will be quick. Mr. Fly can even mentor young men like Eddie Haskell who swears too much. I am sure Mr. Fly will clean up his language.
