I checked out of the haunted Cabin in the Woods yesterday morning to the site of a cleaning crew parked in the driveway, eagerly waiting for us to GTFO. I entrusted my navigation system to direct me towards the fastest path to Asheville, where we will spend the next 8 days. My windshield was CRACKED on the way to Blowing Cock and the length of said crack has grown by 5x since. On the way here, I was bedeviled by a most horrendous back-road ZIG ZAG white knuckled ride, one that I normally would avoid at all costs.
As a younger man, I had an aversion to heights. While I do not anymore, I don’t exactly enjoy it. What I do not enjoy is a tedious drive. More than anything else, I hate ZIG ZAG roads that require only 35mph — because you’ll tip the fuck over at 60mph. I endured that for about 66 miles.
Last night I rested inside of a 3br condo that we rented and it went fine. We spent the evening in Asheville, which reminds me of the nicer parts of Philly, minus the diversity. The people are eccentric, not exactly NYC village eccentric, but blue hair is a common look.
While driving around, or walking, I am ENTREATED to younger ANTIFA Fly complaining about everything. He’s 15 now and only wants to stay inside or in the car. To ask him to walk and exert energy is equal to the death sentence. I checked out of the condo today and just made it up to our next locale — another fucking cabin in the woods.
I was not looking forward to this — mainly because the one in Blowing Rock was terrible. This one is actually quite nice and very clean. The one set back is the GRAVEL ROAD FROM HELL, which is not graded and it pitched heavily to the left. Driving up this winding fucked road, enveloped by trees and shrubs, is something out of a horror movie. I felt on numerous times the car listing so far left — it felt ready to tip the fuck over and into the trees. Luckily I made it up, but now I need to spiral down to get food for the next three days, enough grub that will enable me to avoid leaving this place until checkout.
One major bonus to my nightmare is the neighbor just 300 ft above. The gravel road is a TWO WAY road, but barely big enough for my CRACKED WINDSHIELD Benz. Should I venture up the road while he’s coming down, it’s very possible I will have to drive backwards down this hellscape directly into a rocky crevasse to my instant death.
Plans going forward include heading to the Biltmore Mansion and grounds. And then we check into a fucking normal resort, the Omni at Grover Park.
Wish me luck!
