RUSSIA EXPELS US AMBASSADOR; FUTURES COLLAPSE

Last night violence broke out in Eastern Ukraine with Russia quickly saying it was Ukraine’s fault and it seems awfully coincidental with Russia soldiers teeming on the border.

The big news this morning is the expulsion US Ambassador from Russia and the likelihood we will now expel the Russian Ambassador. These are typically things that happen before war.

Putin is also in preparation to make a speech to the Russian parliament and the rhetoric on both sides could not be more intense.

Sec Blinken is en route to the UN and then Germany. He knows plenty about Ukraine, being of Ukrainian descent and founder of private equity firm Warburg Pincus. This all has the feeling of being over our heads — a narrative is being played out here that is not what it seems and I can promise you this — our interests in Ukraine have nothing to do with democracy.

NASDAQ futs are -123, not really a big move down considering the drama.

It should be noted, BTC is not behaving defensively but gold is and I would think oil would jimmy higher but it’s not. I do not believe the market is pricing in the gravity of the situation, with VIX up just 7%. This all could be solved easily if NATO would just say “Ukraine cannot join NATO.” But they won’t.

Instead they say this.

Why?

Smart people have been saying that the collapse of the dollar will coincide with war, by design of course and here we are.

It may or may not be now but it’s not looking good. It’s when and not if.
Fact: Every other fiat currency in the history of the world has failed at some point.

So you’re saying that Ukrainians don’t have the right to choose independence from Russia? What’s not about democracy when one country invades another to install a new government?

Would it be ok if Mexico joined the Russian federation and installed missles?

We were involved in a coup in Ukraine …a coup which installed the corrupt non-democratic government we see now. And the drooling idiot that has been installed as our president “The Big Guy” was on the take from crooks in this Ukraine through the conduit of his male-slut-coke-snorting son. We fucked with places on Russia’s doorstep and pushed it too far. They have reasonable security concerns about all this …especially in light of the fact that we have spent all the years since 9/11 invading and destroying countries. It is only because of the extremely clueless among us that our government can behave thus. Yes, I’m talking to you.

Ukraine has no business is NATO (North Atlantic [Ocean] Treaty Organization
any more than Mexico would in the Russian Federation.

The only reason to insist on that is to poke the Russian bear.

I agree whatever is reported has nothing to do with what’s really going on behind the scenes.
That said, this is a negotiation. On one side Putin’s tanks; on the other the Finnish biathlon team.
Russia doesn’t want missiles on their doorstep and want to sell their natty – not that crazy.
LNG from the US to Germany has to cost a shit ton more than piping it in on existing pipelines.

    Oldest excuse in the book:
US invaded Panama to “protect” US citizens there.
Russia will go into Ukraine to “protect” Russians

This may not work out financially for Hunter and the big man.

Like most, I don’t know s___. All speculation
My current view: Putin takes E Ukraine and then China will make moves. Then you have a 2-front situation on the other side of the world. Not USD bullish.
