Thank you for an intelligent response. Hard to get on this blog. From what I’ve read invasion is not so easy and doesn’t accomplish much. This isn’t Afghanistan; which is much further removed from being a democracy. However, Putin will sacrifice lives to push his agenda. Repatriation of what were Russian rubles is part of it. The rubles that the oligarchs secretly and not so secretly moved offshore and invested (and squandered). And his pipeline.
The West fucked up so bad bullying Lukashenko. He’s now determined not to become the next Qadaffi.
Without Belarus this would be concentrated in the West and South. Now they have to defend the North as well and Kyiv is right there.
I don’t know if war happens or not but Belarus calling up citizens doesn’t look like a drill.

All this is from something I read, but the North is difficult to invade by land, It’s all swampland, And it is questionable how much tolerance the people of Russia would have for an outright air assault and destruction of Kyiv.
I initially thought just East Ukraine would be taken, but all these troop movements point to much more.
