You know Fly, some years ago when we all met up in NYC, that was my first time visiting Manhattan. And I was struck by just how clean and lawful the city was. The closest thing to sketchy was by the bus station on the way to central park. And there was never a point on that visit – and I walked extensively before our dinner – when I was in any way afraid.

Also, the operating plan submitted to the state called for additing the chemicals that would have avoided this problem. It’s not like anyone signed off on anything that was materially unsafe.
Both the EFM and the Flint City Council approved the transfer. After it blew up, a bunch of opportunists decided to white wash Flint’s own role in the disaster for political expediency. I have no reason to think anything would have gone differently without a state appointed EFM…with the possible exception that Flint’s entire water department would have already been shut down because the city was defunct.
