CNBC: A Cornucopia of Negativity

Not everyone can be as positive and optimistic as “The Fly.” Some people, namely CNBC, just want to see the world burn. Have a look at their entire front page, a cornucopia of doom porn designed to fuck you out of your shares.

How fucking dare they? I should be at school or at the beach enjoying the shark infested waters, not having to clean up their mess. How dare they!

Markets are soft and so is every single writer at CNBC. This is what markets do lads — roller coaster all over the place until the weak ones fall out and smash their skulls against the tracks dead. Buckle the fuck up and try not to get lured into the doom p0rn, for it is disingenuous and meant to fuck you.

Late morning for me, as I am scrambling about the house like eggs doing a little of this and a little of that. Most of my stocks in my trading account are lower, but higher in the quant. So it’s a mixed bag. I have some cash, but I also have impatience for trading positions. Some of them will be cleaved today and replaced.

More later.

Not a perfect set-up, but mo indicators turned south with minor divergence from price. And with trade war victories, rate cut, and QE4ish announcement, we should have gone up strongly, but we didn’t …so we go down.

NFLX illustrates my problem with short-term trading: I sometime forget to factor in how many standard deviations above average my intelligence is above most investors. So while I see an obviously overpriced stock with a bad business model, the massses still pile into NFLX because they like “Stranger Things”.

Several months alter, the market finally starts to figure it out. In particualr, note that the recent fall in NFLX shares is NOT due to any news that wasn’t already known over year ago. NFLX isn’t buring cash ata faster rate than anticipated, and all of the compettion was already known or could be easily anticipated as well. Of course, the Wall Street analysts paly right into this game as well, inflating bubbles until after they pop.

Thank god I am not as smart as you. As stated here, my minimum price target was 257.

Minimum price target? For long or short positions?

Are you saying that you wouldn’t short until NFLX was down 38% from its ATH ($400+) or that now (NFLX is under $257) you are going long?

The dems are putting too much behind the whislteblower report, because they don’t actually know eactly what Trump said.

His actaul words matter to deteremine how closely he tied Ukraine aid to a Biden investigation. Of course, the fact that he blocked aid appropriated by Congreess just a few days before his phone call seems to strongly imply that the two were connected.

While the American people don’t care much if he used campaign funds to pay off a porn star (even if that is 100% illegal), blackmailing an ally in the fight against Russia to increase your re-election chances is a different ball game because of the direct negative effcts it has on national security and foreigh policy.

Also, any peril to the Trump presidency increase the cahnce for a Warren or Sanders presdiency, which will be bad for *short-term* GDP and the stock market as the power will tilt away from the 1% and corporatocracy.

“an ally in the fight against Russia”

Dude, you need to go beyond MSM, turn off the TV …and do some research …and thinking.

Instead of a trite and overused phrase (“turn off the TV”), why don’t you actually tell me where I’m off base?

Simple logic here: Russia and China are the two major threats to the US. Iran and NK aren’t even in the same ballpark.

Therfore, any effort that curtails Russian or Chinese power (in any form) are strategically important to the US. If Russia was not a threat, we wouldn’t need a military presence in Europe (maybe just a few intelligence-gathering assets).

As a prime example of stupid thinking:
          1) Sunni Muslims don’t like the US because of our presense in the Muslim holy lands of Saudi Arabia.
          2) Shia Muslims don’t like us becuase we supported a puppet ruler in Iran in the ’70s and have been anti-Iran ever since,

So what did we just do this week? Place more troops in Saudi Arabia: good for oil companies, good for recruiting Anti-US Muslim Radicals of both religious denominations.
