We all want risk aversion tactics when stocks are trading lower — but you do not have to be reactionary to the blackness of an opening plunge lower. Do yourselves a favor pal and go stuff your fat face with a meated sandwich. You missed the inflection point — but now the Dow is 400 points lower from two days ago and now you risk being wrong again. Judging by recent history, UVXY will flag overbought today in Exodus and the entire system might move into oversold territory. This could very well be one of those shallow dips that you’ll end up kicking yourself in the head for missing.
Or we might trade lower and die.
What do you think is the most likely scenario?
With my money, I am disappointed that oil is dropping like this, but pleased with gold. I am going to chill out for a bit, listen to some Max Richter, and make myself the blackest coffee the world has ever seen. Then I will revisit the tape and make some judgements and position for late afternoon.

At this point the bounce is so guaranteed that we should just throw market orders out for insane amounts of leveraged $SPY calls.

no bounce prior to state of the union speech, that would make Trump look good. no bounce. markets even lower during Trump’s speech. you keep forgetting that the marxist filth at the FED is in control and the deep state is under attack (i.e., memorandum release, drain the swamp – forced resignations, etc.)
Trade what is in front of you, not what you opine. Selling may continue or may be not. May or may not rip to the upside after. Market always shows hand once the greatest number of fools are trapped.

I don’t plan to add new money with the markets up so much over the past year, but sell-offs like these are opportune moments to rotate out of holdings that are underperforming and moving into the stronger names that will be the first to bounce-back.
I entered the day 75% stocks, took a little off via TQQQ. Now about 70%. Call options about 1%, which are doing well enough. I want MOAR. Wait and see mode right now, but no sandwiches. Left over Mexican for me.
It “feels” like a typical earnings season scare. We see a big sell-off either prior to or just after the heart of earnings season. This one is the former. But it sets us up for a post-earnings rally for many of these stocks (as opposed to a post-earnings sell-off).
