I think that yours is a useful construct …and one that I often spout as well. Unfortunately, it’s not entirely (“After that, it’s all hustle.”) true. But it’s true enough and is more constructive than the truth.
Here’s the thing: while there have been a few studies (none without controversy and bias) that have shown differnces in intelligences between races/cultures, the variance between populations is magnitude smaller than within the population itself. To simplify for the mentally deficient: even if it was proved without a doubt that whites were smarter than blacks, the vast majority of racists are still just Alpha-persoanlity flock-following sheep from the shallow end of the gene pool.
Also, food for thought. Imagine 2 identical vehicles racing each other. If you give one vehicle a minute head start, it would be out of site of the second and the secodn would have no chance of catching up. Again to simplify: a small advantage ata critical time can lead to one civilization lapping another in terms of technological advantages. This get multiplied when the higher tech civilization takes the resources of the lower tech one, either by force or subterfuge.
Also, Nepotism is a thing. Think about this. Currently, the Republicans are trying to get rid of the estate tax. If they succeed, here’s an example: Jake buys $10m worth of stock and doesn’t sell it. He leaves it to his son, Jake II, and the stock is now worth $100M. Jake II leaves it to Jake the 3rd, and it’s now worth $1B. Jake the 3rd has no useful skills, so he sells all the stock immediately. His tax bill is Capital Gains rate X ($1B-$10M), right? Wrong. It will be ZERO, becuase the cost basis when you inherit it is waht counts, not when the asset was firts acquired.
