Serious question for you good folks out there: are these people retarded?
These people gathered together to rip down a confederate monument, which I suppose is great if you’re into that sort of thing. But then after they tore it down, they started to scream at it, spit on it, and then kick it.
Do these people think their tiny feet can hurt an inanimate object made from metal? I sat here, gazed at this video for a good 2 minutes, and came away utterly baffled by the actions of these psychopaths. This is a pool of genetically inferior people gathering together for the explicit purposes of demonstrating their ineptitude as civilians in this country — an utter embarrassment of extreme proportions.
On the issue of confederate statues being torn down: I’ve never been a big fan of the confederates, but this has a feeling of malice, northern people instigating trouble with southerners, poking them in their chests, making them relive their loss over and over again. Nothing good will come from this antagonistic behavior.
As for me, I’m still on vacation and depart from Main today, en route to Rhode Island. I’ll be back at the turret on Thursday.

The 1st Amendment of the Constitution of these United States guarantees the unalienable Creator-given right for every person to peacefully speak, publish or otherwise express an opinion regardless of the unpopularity of that opinion. It is the literal foundation of this American Experiment.
Government owns a monopoly on the legal use of force. It enjoys that empowerment for a single purpose: to protect the rights of the citizens to whom it is beholden.
Bigotry, while ignorant, childish and counter-productive, is simply the flip side of the same coin that empowers others to gather in strength for their particular belief.

This is a scary thought, I’ve not been tracking the confederate statue movement since it’s mostly inapplicable in the northeast. There is a much more civil and effective way to approach these issues, building to an overt culture war is counterproductive. However, people have been making comparisons to 1984 for multiple administrations, dem and rep, “endless war” via Afghanistan, Iraq, and now presumably North Korea or Iran… The two party system has become a serious limitation in the optimization of our self-governance. I would say Trump had all the opportunities to enact real change, but squandered it with his hubris and combative me-me macho winner-take all approach to his first 6 months after losing the popular vote.

I would love to see Trump seriously tackle ending domestic surveillance, both the Congress-approved and covert kinds, and to put in stronger protections against future violations of the 4th amendment. There used to be firewalls that kept the government from sharing the information they did collect that at least limited the potential for abuse, and in the name of fighting terrorism those are all gone as well.
