Immediately, I know many of you traderfags are up in arms over that title, ready to show me your recent executions for VJET and DDD. But most normal people out there do not have the 3-d sector cordoned off, isolated to view its alpha.
With gains of 25% over the past month, color me impressed. However, and bear this in mind, every single 3-d combined equates to a market less than $9b, so it’s literally nothing in the big scheme of things. Needless to say, this sector has been on fire.
Now let me show you a tool inside Exodus that could’ve helped you into this sector before it ran higher. This is a composite reading of all of the best performing industries, by month, using seasonal return statistics. In other words, over the course of X amount of month’s, the 3-D printing space netted an average return of +4.18%. The way you would’ve traded it is simple. The screener would be fixed for best performing industries, correlated against the top ranked tech scores. It would only produce a ‘pick’ if the tech score eclipsed 3.00.
For DDD, that came on the first day of the month, when the stock was $16.24.
For these types of trades, I normally recommend 10 day holding periods, no more. In that case, you’d be selling this stock tomorrow — for at least a 36% gain.
When I discussed building systems and models, this is precisely what I was talking about. This would be a seasonality model, based on alpha.
Hopefully this Friday my new strategy can be implemented and you might bear witness to this sort of greatness unraveling in real time — just like the old days, but on a much higher level of sophistication.
