Everything that Wikileaks has revealed over the past year has hurt both the integrity and honor of the United States. The question you have to grapple with, is it well deserved? Locally, we have a school referendum coming up in April. It will raise the already outrageous property taxes by 7.5%, and permanently increase the *percentage increase* the school can ask for from property taxes. This is 1 year after the first school referendum I’ve ever seen fail here–which was apparently just 1 step too far, asking to spend almost $50 million on a fucking swimming pool. It barely failed.
Are there talks of efficiency in the schools? How to do more with less? How other school districts have better results for half the money per student? Reforming pensions? No. None. The article after the pool failure focused not on listening to what the people want and don’t want, or any kind of fiscal responsibility. It focused on how they can do a better job convincing people to pass it next time.
