Markets Close Out the Week Celebrating the President Elect Donald J. Trump

Headlines are crossing that Trump’s number one priority is to encourage lending again. As a result, the financials have soared and continue to outperform on the prospects of renewed greatness and prosperity.

Construction related stocks trailblazed higher and copper posted its best week ever, higher by 20%. Without question, there is an optimism sweeping the nation — almost as if a great dark and evil presence has been lifted — permitting markets to run freely with reckless abandon.

On the other hand, vocal Trump enemies have missed out on the party, names like AMX (Carlos Slim), FB, AMZN, GOOGL, BIDU, MSFT and CRM all went lower.

Fannie Mae was the biggest winner, up more than 70% on rumors that a Trump administration will leave them the hell alone and permit them to lend without having to sweep profits to the government.

U.S. Steel leapt by more than 20% and bonds were annihilated.

Big pharma and drugs did very well and hospital and other Obamacare beneficiaries crashed. THC was down 26%, CYH -19% — and HCA, LPNT and others were down double digits. In the insurance field, both CNC and MOH collapsed, while HIIQ and MGLN soared. Figure it out.

It was an interesting week to say the least, marked with the best trading action I’ve seen in years. Unfortunately, I was caught in a flat footed bearish position and will be licking my wounds for the next few days. Although I wanted Trump to win, I truly didn’t expect it to happen — which is part of the reason why I am in the positions that I am in.

God save Donald J. Trump.

It’s as if Wall St is celebrating the return of the King that will allow them to literally get away with anything. I see Well Fargo is back to Jan levels.. much higher than the scandal of thousands of phony accounts. Why? Because rumor has it Wells thinks Trump will appoint friendly auditors than the previous admin.

Friendlier? More .. look the other way?

Banks leading is never a good thing really.

Is Wall Street literally celebrating the return of the old guard and corruption?

This tape is impossible for me to read. Just glad Fly has been on top of this several times a day.

This is like the 80’s, corporations will grow, big and small.
Real corporations not zillion dollar valuation for web apps that are free
Look for the return of stock options for employees
Much more vertical promotion in business
Once the water stops sloshing around it will come back to the same….earnings growth = stock growth

This week has been INSANE! Fly, do you think the market is starting to get ahead of itself here? Copper flying to stupid levels that supply/demand just don’t justify, and even if followed through on everything the market is pricing in (infrastructure spending), we are looking at on the ground impacts in MAYBE 2017, more likely 2018 at best…..I know FCX has been uber painful short, but the rational side of me thinks it’s maybe worth staying the course….

I get pharma moves – stocks were trading like they had no pipeline value, and some still are, and they should be spared by any ACA repeal or amendment. But this rally in metals just seems super misguided. I’ll leave the timing aspect to you, but fundamentals don’t seem to warrant these kind of moves…

Even if one bet on a Trump win, the logic in this rally is off-kilter, other than markets were oversold and emotional trading to boot?

I am no expert, I am just going with what is happening
Higher rates and higher growth and higher inflation on the way.
REIT’s and mortgage bonds will drop.
      Construction will be up
Home prices? All depends on where the job growth is.
2 million dollar homes in upper middle class areas of America…I think that era is over
It just feels like many bubbles will pop and normal price cycles will return

America has humiliated itself. All we need is Palin becoming the secretary of state.

    Your friends are appalled.

Your enemies, Russia, China and Assange are gleeful. Their meddling worked better than theycould ever have hoped.

Why do you people keep blaming Russia for the criminality of your own party? Had the democrats not been such flagrant criminals, they never would’ve blamed Russia for anything.

Oh, by the way, our own intelligence agencies leaked to assange because they didn’t want crooks in the White House.

The blame is squarely on the Democratic Party for the situation. Americans have embraced intelligent fresh faced Democrats since TV became so big – see Kennedy, Bill Clinton and Obama. But then Hillary just had to be forced down our throats using the threat of Trump to seemingly guarantee it. Well it was a big mistake.
