Let’s see if this blog and my Twitter following has any correlation with the real world or not. My suspicion is that finance, naturally, attracts a more conservative brand of person. Most capitalists that I know aren’t too political. But they tend to lean towards whoever they believe will provide the best environment for sustained economic growth.

Libertarians and socialist have the exact same intellectual falicy, belief in the goodness of man. One side thinks, if you put more control in the government, the people in government are going to make things better. The other side thinks, if you leave more control with the people they will act in a way that improves things.
Both are naive. Neither take into account that people, in general, cannot be trusted. This is why our federal system of government is so brilliant with its checks n balances, it takes the basic untrustworthy nature of humans into account- which is a fundamental precept of life. Fly, I seem to recall your posts years ago bashing the broken 2 party political system. So, why in the world would you not add a 3rd option in the poll (i.e. Johnson, Neither, Other, etc) ??
