Bezos is everything Tim Cook wished he was, sans the bald head and proclivity to procreate with the opposite sex.
Amazon absolutely crushed numbers. Did I mention that the Amazon Echo is, by far, my favorite electronic device?
Reports Q1 (Mar) earnings of $1.07 per share, $0.47 better than the Capital IQ Consensus of $0.60; revenues rose 28.2% year/year to $29.13 bln vs. $28.0 bln consensus; operating income $1.1 bln vs. ests of ~$545 mln and $100-700 mln guidance.
NA operating income +131% to $588 mln; net slaes +27% to $17 bln

AMZN is higher by 12% in the after-hours, within range of new highs. That’s just plain crazy.

put sum respekk on my fuckin name all tree yalls – Tim Cook
you will soon rue the day you became bluestar’s clone….it was so much better when you just threw banana peels at him and his kind…
Why would I rue the day when I am having so much fun?
I think Bluestar has been bearish on Amazon since the $300s.
I totally converted to Amazon Prime this year.. 2 day delivery, music and the Prime NOW mobile app for a 2 hour window of whatever.. and I own the Echo which listens to me all day and sends a confidential report to my overlords.
Up 73 points after hours. Wow.
For the open tomorrow it will be a smackdown:n Bezos versus Cook. I’m betting on Bezos.
what is your main use of the Echo? I’ve been looking at it but haven’t been able to justify it yet…
Set a timer, play music, random ass questions, control house lights, weather reports and play the talk radio show in the morning. If you want actual useful data such as what is a substitute for such and such a spice, I use Google.
you know how many free products I have from amazon cus I wanted to return it and they said just keep it. how many of you got free stuff from amazon? even the smartest unicorn will not be able to keep the bubble valuations based on accounting creativity. I dont buy much these days but amazon get most of purchases cus they make it cheap and easy for me. but not sure how long they can keep treating me like this and be sustainable profitable. Norstrom started the customer is king above all other retailers. but when the printing press isnt going full blast, its hard to please everybody.
another thing, I starting using ebay to buy cus I found about a 15% discount on the same product by the same vendor.
Didn’t amzn just lately become profitable all the while giving you free product? Will eBay do that too with their 15% discount?
i used to like the free stuff but my rational side says some is getting screwed. anyhow in a recession I want 15% saving especially when ordering equipment for a new business.
@roundwego Thanks for your input. Good fortune to your new business.
Interesting article by Trump’s choice for Treasury Secretary:
Icahn: Republicans don’t understand economics and it’s killing the country
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/28/icahn-republicans-dont-understand-economics-and-its-killing-the-country.html
Not by him, quoting him, I meant.
I don’t understand how this article isn’t even considered alien.
Alien?
Yep, Icahn is clearly an alien.
With @moosh on this one … alien
Well, I don’t know if Icahn is an alien. But he and Krugman are right that the the GOP Congress is irrationally obsessed with the deficit. We need moar stimulus to help out the economic recovery, not budget shrinking at this time. Congress should not sit frozen and expect the Fed to create the entire recovery because Congress is too chicken to spend money on anything but the military. They won’t even let us repair out broken down infrastructure.
Keynes was right. We should spend money as stimulus to boost the economic recovery, and then rein in spending once the economy is doing better.
Icahn is an alien. I think global infrastructure builds have/are being bought.
I’m sold.
