Trump: No Tubman $20s On My Watch

Finally someone had the balls to call out the absurdity of replacing President Jackson with Harriet Tubman.

Naturally, that person, aside from yours truly, is Donald Trump.

He calls the move “pure political correctness” and said he’d scrap plans to have Jackson removed. Moreover, he suggested that Tubman could be placed on a $2 bill instead.

The whole idea of fucking with the money is a giant waste of time. Instead of trying to brainwash people by shaming them into believing that America is this awful racist and divisive place, the fucking treasury should be trying to figure out ways to pay down the $20 trillion debt load. Otherwise, the Tubman $20s, after inflation, will have the purchasing power of confederate bill (pun intended).

My sentiments exactly. How about paying for these fucking wars or trying to curb some of the shootings of black people in Chicago. There have been over 1000 shootings so far this year (yes 1 thousand in 3.5 months). You know replacing that shit will cost 1 billion, nothing in government costs less than a billion dollars.

Good point. Ironically, Chicago is a “gun free zone”.

Accurately, Chicago is not a “gun free zone,” even for the lawful.

Open carry is not permitted, but concealed carry is. You need a permit to concealed carry, and you need to take training classes to get a permit. There are some locations, such as schools, where you can’t carry even with the permit.

Even more ironic is the fact the vast majority of Chicago shootings are black on black. Just another nail in the coffin of self repression.
Can’t blame it on angry white conservative males.

I feel it more about removing the white guy (and slave owner), than the replacement.

I am not a fan of changing faces on money from our founding fathers. At most, perhaps you can make a case for other revolutionary war heroes and figures since it has to do with the founding of the country.

However, if they are going to change anyone, then I think it would be Jackson since he wasn’t exactly pro banking system. Seriously, how can one even argue for the removal of Hamilton from our currency? No respect, no respect I tell ya.

I thought the Sacagawea dollar was a good idea.

Worth two posts from you so far, with additional comments, plus a statement from Trump.

Instead of trying to brainwash people

Oh, sorry, Fly. Thought it was you posting again, not some Alex Jones addict.

Our coins and bills have changed a lot over the years. The $20 is changing now, and Tubman is a suitable choice. Move on. Maybe Starbucks has something on their coffee cups that is worthy of righteous rage.

I find it hilarious that the wing nuts chose a gun toting, God fearing, Conservative as the face of the new $20.
      Absolutely.
      Positively.
      Hilarious.

In their vain conceit, if they bent over any further patting themselves in the back, they could sniff their own ass.

Sure, I’m a liberal. Never hid it here on IBC, though Jake Gint took a while to catch on for some reason.

What are you hiding behind your “replacing Jackson with Tubman is absurd, because Jackson has been there since 1914”?

1928 or 1929, actually, but what’s so special about that date? We can’t change the face on a bill after 80 or 90 years? He ain’t that pretty.

Tubman is a bad choice because she represents a very negative time in American history. Look, she was a great woman and is deserving to have monuments to celebrate her life. But, to have her on the $20 bill is only going to remind people of a very negative and shameful time in our countries history. It is inappropriate to do it.

        Unhinged.

Business Insider didn’t express any opinion on any changes past, present, or proposed. They just shared some cool gifs showing how the look of the various denominations has changed over the years.

“Tubman is a bad choice because she represents a very negative time in American history.”

        Ok, 2 things:
        1) Abraham Lincoln, $5 bill, same era, same reminder.
        2) Maybe a reminder is needed

Although I don’t think that the reason that African-Americans are disproportionately represented in prison and in poverty/welfare is all because of past and/or present discrimination, anyone who thinks racism has *nothing* to do with the situation has blinders on. Racism does not mean hatred towards any particular race, just explicit or implicit bias against a person without knowing anything about them other than their race. Rejecting resumes only based on names that “sound black,’ for example. Heck, studies have shown that even African-American officers (raised in US society) are quicker to shoot at black targets,

PS just so you know, I’m also against affirmative action in most cases.

    Ok, so several things:

    1) News alert: our currency ALWAYS changes. The $20 is being replaced because it is due. So it would change in 2020, even if Jackson was still on it. The current $20 design will have the longest print *since 1914*
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_twenty-dollar_bill#Federal_Reserve_history

    2) This isn’t a like a confederate monument whcih can be left standing to remeber the things in history (rather than take it down and pretend their were no confederate generals). There is no reason for a US 21st century currency to pay tribute to a genocidal racists, even if he did help win a war 200 years ago.

    3) Why not have a women on a currency bill? Yes, there are probably a lot of men that haven’t been on the currency that contributed more to the history of the US than any woman, so in that repect, it is politically correct. However, it is ironic that the same group that says that marriage must be between a man and a women and that children should be rasied with two parents (thus emphasizing the important role women had in raising the men that did great things) thinks that the role women had in the country is much less than that of men, simply becuase they weren’t in the spotlight.

    4) If you agree with the idea of a women on the $20, then you have to agree with the Tubman idea becuase she was VOTED on by the public (isn’t that what Trump is about…?) over 15 other women. Most of the other choices were white, but not all.

    Trump is a lottory ticket.

If you are well educated and have a job, a lottory ticket is a complete waste of money. However, for some people, their prospects (due to circumstances both within and beyond their control) aren’t looking that well. If you are an ex-con, not very bright, single parent, no education, no family (other than kids), these are all major economic disadvantages. The virtually 0 chance of a financially successful life may be on par with you chances of winning a life-changing sum (let’s say $10k) in the lottory, which makes buying a ticket not such a bad idea.

Simirlarly, for many people (a different group than the lottory ticket buyers described above), neither the establishment Dem or Rep represent any chance of needed changes to the system (Cruz vs Hillary would represent siginificant differnce in social changes, however). So in that case, a vote for Trump is a a very small chance (well, he MIGHT do waht he say and go against his own economic interests) vs a political candidate that will continue the status quo (near 0 chance of success in the goal to change the system)

Trump has promised to provide a list of SC candidates. Let’s see how his candidates feel about the Citizen’s United case. That will be the litmus test to see if Trump is running for Trump (ie, upper class) or his working middle class followers.

People get so used to free info on the internet, that they forget that somebody made the effort to put it there. I read this blog because there are very few like it. Most finacial sites are no different than reading the WSJ or a fiance book. The up-to-the-date relevant posts give non-financial people valuable, often actionable insights – for free.

Now of course, discourse is great for any blog site, but simplistic “you suck now posts” really are pretty pointless. Nobody *choosing to read ths blog* really cares that you don’t like it, and it should be obvious that Dr. “I haven’t been this happy in centuries” Fly isn’t going to change it back to suit your preferences. So the only possible reason for your post is to boost your ego, but if that’s your purpose, then you have bigger issues to deal with than the fact a blog you used to like is going downhill.

National Salvation through our new American Jesus, Donald Trump, cannot come soon enough. I eagerly await the day he casts the enemies of White America into the lake of sulfur, allowing good White Christians to repopulate the coveted job roles of Gardener, Dishwasher, House Cleaner, and $20 Bill Portrait-er.
