Trump Releases Plans to Force Mexico to Pay for The Wall

America is going to be so great again, once we can build the wall.

Trump released his plans that will force Mexico to pay for the wall to the people who hate him most today, The Washington Post. The media, naturally, is having a frenzy with it. Here are the memos in its entirety.

Trump1

Trump2

Here are the lunatics from MSNBC urinating their pants over this intelligent plan.

I don’t know how anyone in their right mind could oppose this simple plan. If you want to send your people into America and use us for a defacto welfare system for your failed state, chalk up $5-10 billion for the wall–else we will cease to permit money transfers to Mexico. Trump’s argument is they have a lot more to lose than we do, since the trade deficit is sharply in their corner. Nevertheless, both the left and the right will oppose any plan to get the wall built, for a number of reasons–most being political.

Can’t wait until this wall is built. Banksy will be commissioned to paint thousands of miles worth of stupid ironic BS on our side of the wall, for free. That’s his punishment for a lifetime of vandalism.

And on the other side will be nuclear waste.

More like welfare for Americans. When your house is 40% more to build, your produce is 30% more. Then we will see who loves the wall. For a guy who’s likely one of the biggest employers of immigrants (and illegals) this makes me laugh. Do as I say and not as I do.

Let me guess: you don’t live near a border state?

Ask border state folks if the wall is a good idea.

As far as the cost of goods rising: so be it. I am more than happy to pay more for things produced here, by my fellow Americans. That’s a tax worth enacting.

I live less than 30 mins from the border.

        It isn’t.

Yes, I’m ok for paying more for goods. I often go out of my way to buy American. I’d imagine the ones doing the most complaining about the illegals are the same people who don’t grasp this concept though. Call some farmers in Alabama and see how things have gone for them after the mass deportations…… It’s in vogue to have this opinion on immigrants and illegals, I get it, it gets votes. It’s just important to see all the possible side effects, positive and negative.

Under the current system, non-profit hospitals (i.e. most of them) are required to treat everyone, regardless of ability to pay.

In the US, I would think that most of Trump’s buildings exist in “prevailing wage” areas. You think those union guys tolerate illegals on the job? Think again.

I get my opinion differs. Easier way to solve this problem, go after the companies hiring the illegals. Stop buying goods from companies that hire them. They aren’t hard to find, heck some of them even advertise in Mexico. Problem solved, or not…. because people never put their $ where their mouth is.

And also make Mexico pay to keep their own filthy sewage on their side of the border, please. http://www.nogalesinternational.com/news/officials-warn-of-raw-sewage-flows-from-mexico/article_440f7ace-ed88-11e1-b066-0019bb2963f4.html

God damn it! Build a moat not a wall. Much cheaper.

Every time Trump falls on face he brings back The Wall. Such a funny oranged man.

I hear through my national security contact in DC that Mexican cartels have recruited the world’s best pole vaulters just in case a wall is built. Also, they are investing jet-pack technology.

That is the best case scenario.

The drug flow continues, the flow of illegals stops.

“That section authorized the executive branch to issue detailed regulations on the subject, found at 31 CFR 130.120-121”

I had trouble finding that cite. Eventually I found (and I have no law background at all) that the cite contains a typo (130 should be 103) and that the cited section is no longer in use, having been replaced by 31 CFR Chapter X in March 2011.

Furthermore, 31 CFR 103.121 deals with casinos, and so is not relevant to Trump’s memo. 31 CFR 103.120 (now 31 CFR 1022) is the one that addresses “money services businesses” which is where Western Union is placed (and defined as a “money transmitter”).

“On day 1 promulgate a ‘proposed rule'”

Rules are proposed, have a public-comment period, are adopted by the agency, and then are formally promulgated.

“amending 31 CFR 130.121 to redefine applicable financial institutions to include money transfer companies like Western Union, and redefine “account” to include wire transfers.”

As noted previously, that cite should be 31 CFR 103.21, and it deals with casinos. It also does not include a Definitions section and does not have the word “account” anywhere in the text.

31 CFR 103.11 is the cite for “Meaning of terms.” Several types of accounts are defined there, but “account” is not.

But, time to drop the defunct 31 CFR 103 and look at the current regulations found in 31 CFR Chapter X. There, we find that Western Union falls under the “financial institution” category, just as it did back when 21 CFR 103 was in use.

It is not so simple to redefine “wire transfers” (the more precise term, for legal use, is “remittances”) as an “account.” 31 CFR Chapter X does define “account”, but only in the section dealing with banks. In order for Trump’s redefinition of “account” to have any impact on Western Union and other money-transfer companies, he would have to redefine such companies as banks. That redefinition would, I think, be overtuned if challenged in court.

FYI FLY Cost of wall would be closer to 20 billion not including maintenance and eminent domain legal costs. Plus add the cost of surveillance cameras along the whole wall. It would take years for all the eminent domain cases to be resolved. Ironically, the low-cost provider of materials is CEMEX, the giant building products company.

I’ve read reports that the wall will cost at least $60 Billion to build and then there is the ongoing cost to maintain it. I believe a wall is a foolhardy and simplistic effort to solve a very complex issue. My guess it will never get built.
