Amazing. People demonstrating in the streets. It’s good that people are wanting to be politically active. Most people didn’t even come out to vote on election day in the 2014 mid-terms, much less demonstrate in the streets.
I hope that these demonstrators will come out again, en masse, to demonstrate against any unnecessary war that the next president of the U.S. may try to get us into– or against any crazy policy that politicians are about to carry out– regardless of the identity or the party(ies) of those politicians.
I don’t expect that these folks will influence anyone against Trump. Seems to me that both the GOP Powers That Be and the ordinary citizens, have all made up their minds already what they think about Trump. It’s not as if he’s a new unknown person.
It looks like these are peaceful demonstrations and no one is getting hurt. So that’s good. They have a right to express themselves peacefully, just as Trump supporters do.

I do agree that no one has the right to block other people’s right of assembly. Police seem to be arresting those who are, and towing cars blocking the way. All in all, it’s more peaceful than tea party protests have been. No protesters hauling guns around.

Interesting theory about the demonstrations containing paid actors. Possible, I suppose. Where I am on the West coast, people on the Left tend to spend their political time talking about Bernie vs. Hillary. They do demonstrate outside for various reasons, but they don’t block traffic. And I haven’t heard any of them talk about having any anti-Trump demonstrations. But it is possible that NYC Left people may be different.
There were some anti-WTO demonstrations in Seattl years ago, which included some violence. Someone I knew who was peacefully demonstrating, claimed to have evidence that the violent ones were hired for pay, in order to make the WTO look reasonable and to make their detractors look violent and unreasonable by comparison. Regardless of what they think of Trump, most people on the Left here are against awful trade agreements that screw over the public, and they always have been.
