Romney: I Want to See a Brokered Convention

In another shocking media appearance, 2012s GOP nominee for President, Mitt Romney, said he would not vote for Trump under any circumstance and would like to see the GOP elite choose a candidate at the convention, instead of honoring the will of the voters by choosing Trump.

By extension, Romney is saying he’d much rather see Clinton in office than the leading GOP candidate, which begs the question: is the Republican Party a party at all, if they so easily toss away the will of the people and support the opposition party over their own candidate?

Against Obama, Romney was a very doscile and quiet man. With Trump, however, he’s very animated. Make no mistake, the GOP is having their water boy send out these trial balloons now in order to gauge public opinion. They intend to steal the nomination from Trump, without question.

Only a third of Republican voters support Trump. Would be different if it were a majority. But it ain’t going to happen anyway. If Trump’s brain could overcome his ego (impossible) and moderate his moronic behavior he’d be able to defuse the situation. America loves its politicians to serve some humble pie.

this is the point in the movie where the plot twist is revealed that both parties are really just one evil party in cahoots.

I was waiting for this moment. Essentially, Romney is asking the GOP to nominate him from the floor. Which ultimately I think happens; better than 50/50 odds.

As a progressive, a Romney nomination sounds great to me. Obama beat Romney by millions. Let’s do it again, Bernie or Hillary.

On the campaign trail, Hillary is no Obama… I think it would be a pretty tight race.

The GOP constantly ignores the will and the interests of their constituents. If they don’t give the public their nominee but steal it out from under the guy, well, we progressives may get the chance to welcome some new people to the Democratic party. Take your pick: Bernie or Hillary. Whoever legally gets the Dem nomination will not have it stolen out from under them, I promise.

Except if Hillary wins, that will be exactly what she did.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. I know from reading the 24/7/365 Hillary bashing that’s gone on for 2 decades now, that the Right Wing believes firmly that Hillary has never done a trustworthy thing in her life and never will.

They are more similar than I would prefer. But anyone who can’t tell the difference between Bush and Obama needs new glasses, new hearing aids, and a new brain.

BTW, I suspect the belief that “both parties are the same”, although sincerely and genuinely believed by many people, has been fed to us as propaganda for a long time. By whom? By the party that benefits most, when people stay home on election day.

Think about it. The goal of getting lots of people to stay home on election days has been wildly successful.

Trump is crazy. Fun to watch and love the fact he doesn’t sound like a politician. But he’s a fucking mad man.

LOL, is he going to take it out and show it to the public now? That would only be half surprising, at this point.

FYI, Trump is trailing in most major polls against Hillary while everyone else still in the race actually leads, despite his assertions of the opposite….

alas, the tide has gone out on the republican establishment & they be nekid … their flacid penis says they never gave two fuks for all their republican servants and subjects … they are the party of, and for the elite, for the self-described illumined ones as opposed to their dumb-as-fuk unwashed masses

such is the nature of our pseudo-democracy

Even if the GOP thinks Trump would lose the general election to Hillary, the only reason to nominate Romney in a brokered convention would be to avoid being “branded” by Trump in a way they deem negative going forward.

Romney would lose a general election to Hillary, particularly if the Trump supporters and others who aren’t exactly “excited” over a Romney candidacy just sit this one out.

The GOP establishment hasn’t figured out that Trump’s popularity is in large part an indictment of them.

SO true. It really is incredible how clueless they are about what is happening. They have absolutely no conviction about anything: “Trump is a liar and dangerous…but still better than HRC!” Wow, what maroons.

Trump is crazy, but he is a great retail politician, while Hillary is the opposite on both points.

It will be a lot closer than people think.
