I too am long GLL and yesterday I posted for all of you people that it should be bought heavily. Can I get a witness. Anyway when I hear fucking old men in suspenders, handle bar mustouches and pop bottle glasses saying gold is going to $3000 I get heavily short. Now I hedged this trade via long oil which I like for geopolitical reasons. Anyway bottom line gold and bonds should be sold.

I agree. Salt would be almost as fine a currency. But those little old men with handlebar moustaches and thick glasses buy gold, and convince everyone they know to buy gold. They are looking for something else, with less risk, and gold is a good psychology investment.

Gold is no longer money (like the era of gold standards), therefore it is poor performer in deflation. Bounce in financial also limits any gold attraction.
As I mentioned a couple of times in the last week the gold stocks were underperforming the physical metal advances for at least two weeks.
It is time for the physical to collapse and when the major gold stocks stop going down at a time the physical continues down then the sign is out for another pending gold rally.

I don’t understand gold. It’s hard to eat it, drink it, smoke it, or fuck it. If you buy it, you have the pleasure of it generating negative cash flow due to insurance, storage and financing costs. You also know with certainty you will never be entitled to a rent, an interest coupon, a dividend, or a claim on earnings/cash flow. (Actually, I think there is a lending market for it, but you know what I mean). So how do you value it?
What’s funny is banks are sitting on CDOs that are cash flowing nicely and nobody wants to bid on them because they can’t value the CDO.
But the same people who are afraid to buy CDO’s that are at least currently generating positive cash flow are bidding up an asset that generates no cash flow.

I own physical gold and have it in a safe. It is not an asset to masturbate with, it is a generic hedge on any currency. It also has historical archetypal relevance in society and the value is ingrained in your psyche.
I don’t think it needs to be over 900 for a hedge though. If it overshoots, it will be more likely to undershoot on the way down so I will sell it.
