I received man-sized gains today. Obviously, all one has to do is design a system, test the system, and then trade it. Any monkey could do it.
My positions going into today’s trading were
[[DXD]] [[TWM]] [[MZZ]] [[SDS]] [[FXP]]This particular strategy account is now sitting at a new YTD high.
Just in case you missed it, this post is a follow-up to System Trading Is Hard.
Psychology is a bitch.
No doubt Dog.
I’ll tell you though, I held through the first substantial drawdown of the system, and did not override any of my stops, or capitulate. I even added more positions as the strategy called for it. My only mistake (and it may really not be a mistake) was selling half of one of the double-sized positions, yesterday morning.
System trading is only hard if you have no discipline, like Bill Clinton at an intern buffet. You just need to make sure it is robust enough to hold up under any and all market conditions; or have more than a few systems; and know when to apply them. If you have a steel-belted nutsack, such as myself, and you can take the signals regardless of your gay emotions at that time, you’ll come out ahead.
Scortched, I’m thinking my sarcasm may have gotten lost in those man-sized gains. Read the other post, System Trading is Hard, and everything will be crystal.
Just what are you trying to say about monkeys?
Leonard, they make good systems traders.
And they enjoy drinking their own pee.
There, I said it. I know you were thinking it though.
Speaking of monkeys… Am I the only one who thought the ape broad in the Markie Mark version of Planet of the Apes looked like Michael Jackson, post-Thriller?
Your monkey done good today, don’t spank it. 😉
Nice job Shed!
Shed, is that Robert Duvall as Robert E. Lee, or Martin Sheen?
That’s a true step-up, avatar wise, though I dearly hope it’s the former, not the latter.
And Danny’s new one is perfect, given current circumstances.

Question on systems: have any of you rented one out or sold one? I’ve put one together that I’m testing now but I don’t want to leave my FT job.
Thanks
Patrick, I have never sold or rented one out.
I know I can make more money trading it than I can make from selling it.
Of course, it all depends on how much equity you have to start from, I guess.
If you want to sell or rent one, check out collective2.
I would like to know more about it, if you want to discuss the idea behind it.
