ALPHABET TO LAUNCH UBER-LIKE SERVICE WITHOUT HUMAN DRIVERS

Apparently, Waymo is closer to everyone in full autonomous driving, and will be launching a new ride hailing service that will test pilot in Phoenix, AZ.

Waymo said that members of the public will begin riding in its fleet of Fiat Chrysler Pacifica minivans outfitted with Waymo technology — and without human drivers — in the next few months..

    Is it just me? Why do “driverless” cars have steering wheels? Just wondering.

      Would be an extra expense to remove them and I would imagine laws in some places still require the ability to override. Assuming they get approved legally in most places and take off then it will be cost effective to manufacture in volume without a steering wheel.
