I would Buy RIMM outright, not play with calls. GS sold to you, I’d rather be in UYG here. AAPL, I have an infatuation with the company– nothing can make me a bear on the stock, nothing!

Your infatuation with the company is your biggest problem. You probably own, use, and love their products. They ARE the best. But, the stock, as you know, is a different animal. It is going lower. You have been touting it (AAPL) since the high $120s and eventually you will be right, but you were big time wrong in the grand scheme of things. Anyone that followed your advice on that one is a lot poorer.

At the moment my cost basis on AAPL is $110.

Regarding Apple, normally doesn’t the implied volitility run above the 30 day historical volitility before earnings?
IV is high, but HV is higher, which is odd, considering I’d expect that they would price in earnings.
Normally I don’t mess too often this close to earnings, but I like the way the market is setting up, and the IV is still relatively low.

I agree, I bought some Nov 110s @ $3.00 a little while ago. But don’t tell anyone– I’m tired of getting harassed.
I am not sure if that was sarcasm or not, but i think you should absolutely be able to comment on it. I admire anyone that picks stocks and lays their balls out there for the world to see. There are plenty of trades I am glad that only I know about. I am just giving you a hard time about Apple. I will say that you bullish / optimistic nature doesn’t always serve you well, but who am I to judge.
Also, I regret saying AAPL will go lower because I, obviously, don’t know that. I would love to go long here, but I have been burned too many times buying before earnings. Also, it will amaze me if they keep year end estimates unchanged. They are a fantastic company, but this recession has kicked a lot of people in the balls. It will be an interesting CC to listen to. Good luck and I hope it heads north for you.

i think we see the same thing with apple as we saw with goog…people want a winner and apple has been that winner for almost everyone for the past few years…any good news out them and the market cheers and rallies and then we fall again…wow i think i just figured this game out..
Fuck this, sold a portion of aapl along with my calls. Should the stock drop after earnings I will load the truck. SHould it move higher I will miss out on some coin.

Maybe I’ll just give up on global growth all together if aapl doesn’t beat here… For some reason I picture even in a depression, people lieing in a dumpster with an Iphone and/or ipod, and/or some apple product, listening to their music, as a reality escape…
Some people wouldn’t give up their iphone without you prying it out of their cold dead fingers…
