So I’m at lunch with the future wifey when our waitress brings me the wrong drink. She places an ice cold Dr. pepper in front of me when I believed it to be a coca-cola classic. Upon drinking what I believed to be the “real thing”, I damed near spit the drink out all over Ms. Cajun. She laughed and said, “She mixed up our drinks, it’s Dr. pepper isn’t it?”
How do people drink this stuff? 23 Flavors of yuck in my opinion, but Mrs. Cajun loves it.

Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. [[DPS]] was spun off in May from former owner Cadbury Schweppes. The stock began trading around $25/share and reached a high of 25.86 before selling off. Lately the stock has been on fire due to reaffirming EPS for 2008, and is now near a 52 week high.
This is exactly the kind of company you want to own in a slowdown. Look for a break to new highs before taking a position.

btw, Dr/ Pepper is a surprise if you are expecting Cola, but if you give it a chance it will grow on you, refreshing in its own way – no, I’m not talking about your fiancee!

I always get a chuckle out of those ‘store’ brands that imitate the real deal. Like Dr. Skipper or Mountain Breeze or Shasta Cola.

I would have thought the Fly at least admit to having tried an IBC root beer, if not a regular drinker.

IBC has to be the best root beer known to man…not sure if it is distributed nationally or regionally but I don’t see it much around the sticks where I live. Heck, we just got Monster en masse about a year ago..
Forgot to mention…5-card Dr. Pepper gets it’s name from the old days when the Dr. Pepper label had a 10, 2, and 4 on it, with the marketing slogan being that it’s good for any time of day. Just a little trivia for y’all. Got that from my father-in-law who likes to shake up a poker table by calling random games when it’s his deal.

I go back with Dr. Pepper all the way back to when it (and 7UP) were still owned by Hicks, Muse & Co. in the early nineties.
Those guys (an LBO firm out of Dallas) did “Golden Age” opulence long before it became trendy with all these hedge funds. Reeeediculous.
