I’m calculating that HERO has about 17 jack ups in the Gulf. Replacement cost per rig is $200 million. I believe that’s the amount of insurance they have on each rig, with a $15 million deductible, of course.
If there is a major disaster with a lot of rigs out of commission, I’d be looking at those offshore drillers that are not heavily invested in the Gulf. They’ll be getting the work.
Day rates will go through the roof, as may steel prices.
