Unless you shorted w. options and then you’re right to take the cash. But if you just shorted stock, why not let it run a bit?
You’re only going to have to recycle the cash, which means
a) increased transaction costs
b) increased risk the next trade will not perform as well.
Granted you have “b” no matter what, but there is some statistical significance to the aphorism, “let winners run.”
