Who will lead is higher? Lehman Brothers [[LEH]], I doubt it. Looking through my watchlist, everything looks extended. If Mr Jobs can’t save the market, [[AAPL]], who will?
As of right now I’m looking for short candidates. Take a look everything is dead: Solar [[FSLR]], Ag [[MOS]], Coal [[BUCY]], Oil [[EOG]], Steel [[MTL]].

The way I see it, MSFT is the last great hope.
No one will lead us higher, this was the last great hurrah before the summer doldrums. Anything else will be just excess flatulence.

I agree though that things are breaking down… Weird though, oil and gold both lower, market flat, solar down, ags down.

I question as well what is going to lead us higher but you also have to look at these facts. Short interest is at or near all-time highs – something like 11 days to cover all the shorts out there right now. There is also the fact that since the Fed could care less about inflation, they have basically forced anyone not wanting a negative return on their money to try and invest in the stock market. I think that keeps a bit of a floor on things to the downside in my opinion, at least in the near future. I would guess we just stay in this same sort of range.
If you look at USD (Ultra Semis) and ROM (Ultra Technology) they have either broken out already or looked poised to breakout, so I am assume some money may be rotating into tech, possibly out of commodities. The only problem – try finding some new stocks in that sector that look nice.
Puzzling market. I am interested to see if seasonality plays into things at all. Has anybody thought about how boring the summer is going to be considering trading volume is as low as it is now for the past month?
