Good timing on my $CMG buy today. No jinx.
Chipotle Mexican Grill shares soared in after-hours trade Tuesday after Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square disclosed a 9.9 percent stake in the stock in a filing.
Chipotle stock last traded more than 7 percent higher in trading after the bell.
In a filing, activist investor Pershing said it intended to engage in discussions with the fast-casual restaurant company’s board and management. It added the stock is undervalued and attractive.
Chipotle stock has been hammered by continued fallout stemming from food-borne illness breakouts that hit several restaurants locations across the country last year. Year to date, its shares are down 13 percent while the stock is off 45 percent from its all-time high hit last year.
For the first six months of this year, comparable restaurant sales, a key industry figure, dropped 26.5 percent as the chain continues to feel the lingering impact from the incidents, which were associated with restaurants in 15 different states.
The Reporting Persons (Pershing Square) beneficially own 2,882,463 shares of Common Stock (the “Subject Shares”), which number includes: 554,213 shares of Common Stock and 2,328,250 shares underlying forward purchase contracts.

Great timing on the call today but anecdotally all the Chipotle restaurants in my area that had lines going outside are fairly empty. Means nothing for a trade but just what I see

Awesome trade OA! Not related to the CMG trade… anecdotally in my area the cream of the Chipotle customers are now lined up at Cava Grill. Many of the other CMG customers are at MOD pizza.

was doing some scans for sectors that may be due for a little pop and ran across $NRG as a wedge pattern play sitting at support ~$12… also looked and there is over 15,000 in open interest in calls for the DEC $12 strike. Also has a good profile about $15.50…
Still learning the ropes on participating in the bootcamps and AHWOA, so would appreciate the feedback from the more experienced folks on whether you believe this is a good one to consider?
My only concern would be the rotation out of defensive sectors like utilities and staples.

AAPL sentiment was negative into earnings. That’s why it ripped $15. AAPL is normally a buy the rumor sell the news stock.

One last thought….FB is worth consideration for re-entry. Stock is going to retest after hours highs of 133-135. Just not sure if it will be this week or next if AAPL suddenly garners everyone’s attention.
