It required stones that most men can’t carry, but it looks as if it will pay me handsomely in the end.
My original thesis on this $TWLO idea was that it would be similar to the $TWTR and $BABA IPOs that we traded in years past. They were the stocks that would be chased into a buying frenzy. Not long after I made that call, Jimmy Cramer started pumping the stock pretty hard. Once I saw this, I doubled my position knowing that the pieces were in place.
I doubled down yet again a little over a week ago after earnings, and made this my largest leveraged position the last time this stock traded at $40. The stock had a great week last week as it rallied $13 into the weekend, which is where I made a difficult decision on whether or not to hold.
I held. I think there’s a great chance this stock trades to $70, but I am only covered on this til Friday.

I booked them on Friday, and an hour later I realized I had intended to sell something else instead. My target was $27, so I’d be selling here had I not done that Friday. Pissed.

Question: Do you have a process for deciding when to sell winners and when to hold?
I succumbed to the bchu noise and sold a slug of BABA Sept 100’s the day earnings were released and left a sizable chunk of money on the table. I had plenty of time (5+ weeks) and the trade was working so….now that you get us all trained on where and when to buy, how the $%@# do we know when to sell? I have tried holding thru expiration, rolling out to future months, and selling / not looking back — all with very limited success. I find it difficult on occasion to filter out the noise and let the trade work knowing that the if the entry is correct the setup will usually yield maximum results in a two to five week window.
Selling is much harder than buying. I have found that target discipline is best for me. You miss a little upside on some, you save yourself from getting too greedy on others, and just count on the two to average out over time. It is also the key to making decisions for yourself and not sitting with your hand over your mouse frantically trying to decide “What would OA do? What would OA do?” That led to me to transacting way too much and making a lot of mistakes.
Great call. I see many traders calling this since last friday or so, but none called it so early and held on.
I am thinking $BIDU is in a good spot here. Thoughts?

long term fundamentals for TWLO are also great. TWTR was a dying business that ran on steam. TWLO is running on steam but have the tailwinds of its fundamentals behind it as well
