The earnings plays that have worked out have been the names like $NFLX, $PCLN, $GOOGL, $AMZN over these last few quarters where stock prices had been posted up not far from ATH’s. The gap-and-go style move has laid out incredible wins in these stocks, and I feel like $TSLA is a name that belongs in that circle.
Would you throw on a trade here into earnings? Why or why not?

OA, no position for me, but would go long with gun to head. Shorting TSLA is hell’s wish. ONLY because the stock movement relies more on Musk’s words than his numbers. Even a miss, Musk can add fire to the upside with passion in his words.

Imp Vol seems low going into earnings, compared to past expectations – near ATH – was just told today that there is a weird looking H&S pattern on its daily chart so might move up just to screw with that view – heavily shorted
Less adventurous trade would be long volatility but I have a long bias so would take an OTM call spread, one with a 1 to 5 R/R or better

Look for TWTR to cascade lower if it breaks below yesterday’s low of 28.9. Next stop 28.69 then it drops to IPO price of 26

i thought AAPL would be in the camp also, but it rejected off the channel top from earnings. It was a nice wide channel sitting a couple bucks below the previous 134 high.

I love $TSLA as a concept, and would very much like a long term position in equities in the name. I think that the battery could change the world (or something very similar will). But I feel I am far too late to initiate here (though if I believe the sentence prior, then this sentence is completely wrong). Would you recommend starting to build a position prior to earnings or after?
Also, anyone think my $AAPL weekly has legs left or does it look tired? $115 is holding okay but it certainly didn’t feel inclined to spend too much time above it. I missed the kiss of $118 this morning b/c I was not at my desk. Again.
