Get Ready for Solar Panel Friday

The TAN is one of few non-leveraged ETFs up more than 20% YTD. Solars have been pretty active over the last two weeks, and have beat the SPY to new relative highs.

FSLR and YGE are still my top two equity positions, roughly 15% a piece, and both up over 40% since purchase. I have added March 10 calls in JASO here, to match other long RSOL and TSL positions.

Any other solar ideas you like here?

Probably because it’s getting ready blow! But yeah, RSOL and TSL could not look any better for entries right now. I gotta get in one of these, which one…

OA, I don’t have a new solar name to drop, but would like to provide the soundtrack for this thread. “Power” … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXIA7LM1eog

I always wonder if ENPH will offer me an entry. I never does, but it may soon.

Long SBUX March 80 calls <$.15/ea. Like the chart setup and risk/reward.

i was gonna say coffee futures might have people worried with sbux…but damn that is definitely a nice tail candle on that chart.

looking back at the last year. It’s highest monthly gain was from july opex to aug opex…7 bucks. Those 80 calls might be too far out. If the move is not instant and quick (like inside 2 weeks) you might not even make any profit. I’m putting some 77.50’s on watch though.

Interesting that you’re going with in the money calls on JASO. Maybe you can touch on your thought process with that in After Hours.

my guess is bc buying time has been neither predictable nor consistent, its like theres a current of vol underneath the actual activity that only a privileged few understand…kinda like when CDS was blowing out in ’07 but the mkt was still going up

I did the same with VJET calls today…went in the money. It’ll hurt with a move against me, but if it moves up I like the 1:1 move option:stock. Get in/get out and snipe it…not playing for an extended break out and run…just taking quicker pops if I can get them and getting out….unless the setup is a good breakout play. can’t speak for OA, but when IV is high, you can sorta counter that with ITM vs. the OTM
