NRA Official: Obama Wants to Outlaw Guns in 2nd Term

Sean Lengell

A top official with the National Rifle Association said Friday that President Obama will move to “destroy” gun rights and “erase” the Second Amendment if he is re-elected in November.

While delivering one of the liveliest and best-received speeches at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said the president’s low-key approach to gun rights during his first term was “a “conspiracy to ensure re-election by lulling gun owners to sleep.”

“All that first term, lip service to gun owners is just part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment during his second term,” he said.

“We see the president’s strategy crystal clear: Get re-elected and, with no more elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms’ freedom, erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and excise it from the U.S. Constitution.”

Mr. LaPierre said the president’s two Supreme Court appointees — Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan— are “two of the most rabid anti-gun justices in history.” He also accused Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of being a foe of gun rights.

And with the possibility of two or more Supreme Court justice positions opening during the next four years, the NRA official warned that gun ownership would be in jeopardy if Mr. Obama stays in office.

“If we get one more like those three, the Second Amendment is finished,” he said. “It’ll be the end of our freedom forever.”

This article is true but the truth is still being distorted, since it places blame solely on Obama. The anti-gun policy is coming out of the United Nations, instead.

“Juice’s” post, above, appears to be akin to that of a disinformational sock puppet, paid to post here.

    Here are the facts:

The two financial arms of the UN are the IMF and the World Bank, both managed by pro-communist central bankers.

A top official stated today that if elected, Mitt Romney will force every US citizen to convert to Mormonism.

Another official pointed out that if Gingrich were to win the presidency he would reinstate slavery.

Makes about as much sense as that pile of bullshit posted above. Every election the NRA comes out with the same crap yet the gun people still have their guns. No problem, if that’s your cup of tea go for it. But stop claiming that everyone is out to get you.

Oh and why didn’t the same NRA official mention that in order for this to take place it would have to have the complicit support of the Republican led House of Representatives? He conveniently left that part out.

There can be no question that what is taking shape at the U.N. is an all-out attack on the constitutional freedom of American gun owners. U.N. bureaucrats have focused intensely on record-keeping, oversight, inspections, supervision, tracking, tracing, surveillance, marking, documentation, verification, paper trails and data banks, new global agencies and data centers regarding firearms and ammunition. Nowhere are there provisions about respecting citizens’ rights of self-defense, privacy, property, due process or observing personal freedoms of any kind.

International gun-ban activists have demanded ATT provisions that would force America to license firearm owners, severely restrict all firearm purchases, destroy firearms deemed “unauthorized,” ban commonly owned semi-automatic rifles and join an international gun registry.

While a treaty can’t override the Second Amendment, it can become the law of the land either directly—equal to any law passed by Congress—or through implementing legislation. Even if a treaty isn’t ratified by a two-thirds majority of the U.S. Senate, it never dies, and can still affect your rights. The U.S. Senate could take a signed treaty off the shelf and vote to ratify it 10, 20 or 50 years from now—as we know from experience. Just two years ago, NRA fought a push to consider a 1997 Organization of American States (OAS) gun control treaty in the Senate. Although the U.S. never ratified that treaty, the Clinton administration used it as an excuse to restrict exports of gun parts and accessories to Canada.

In a 2010 speech to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Hillary Clinton’s Under Secretary for Arms Control told the audience: “We will work between now and the U.N. Conference in 2012 to negotiate a legally binding Arms Trade Treaty, and we’ll need your help in achieving it. We have made that a fundamental policy commitment.”

So you can bet that if President Obama wins a second term he’ll move full-speed ahead for Senate ratification and implementation of the ATT’s mandates.

Rahm Emanuel proposes $65 per-gun fee and registry

His proposal would require all handgun owners to obtain a certificate of registration from the State Police for every handgun they own — at a cost of $65-per-weapon — and to renew that registration every five years.

They would be required to provide: their name, address and telephone number; the manufacturer of the gun, its model type and serial number; and the date and source of the purchase.

Whenever a handgun is sold, the seller would be required to report the sale to the State Police “no less than 48 hours prior to delivery.” Handgun buyers would have 20 days to file for a new certificate of registration. Anyone caught carrying or possessing an unregistered handgun would face a Class 2 felony.

A portion of the $65 fee would be used to implement the statewide registry. The rest would be used to improve two public safety data basis: LEADS and the National Instant Criminal Background Check Systems (NICS).

Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, said Emanuel’s proposal to impose a per-handgun registration fee is “preposterous,” illegal and going nowhere in the General Assembly.

“It’s a civil right [to own a gun]. You don’t have to pay for a civil right. It’s like a poll tax,” he said.

“He’s trying to limit handguns for criminals and he’s attacking law abiding citizens. There are 1.4 million firearms owners in this state and he wants to tax them all $65. It’s crazy.”

Really, just because I don’t buy the hype that the NRA is spewing means I have an endearing worship of Obama? Really?

I’m not so much pro-Obama as I am anti-stupidity which was rampant in the original article.

You sir are definitely not rational. As a matter of fact you should probably get your prescriptions reviewed.

Pimp, it is my understanding that treaties would not come before the House of Reps for a vote.

If the US signs the UN’s arms control treaty, all that would be needed for ratification would be 2/3rds of the Senate.

OK, fair enough you raise a good point. However, given that the Democrats have nowhere near a 2/3 position in the Senate this ridiculous idea still requires Republican support at some level. Why is that not mentioned?

Getting 2/3 Senate support for something like this will be impossible. Thus the original argument that if Obama is re-elected everyone will have their guns taken away is null and void.

It’s just another scare tactic by the NRA to drive up membership dues. They carry themselves much like labor unions at times.

This sounds like paranoid BS from the John Birch society. The UN cannot enforce any laws. They can barely get their shit together to do anything about Syria–or any other resolution they have made in the past 50 years, so I don’t see how this is even in the realm of possibility.
You normally seem rational, amish, but when it comes to hating Obama, it is your religion. You must have your reasons

You drank the Kool-aid and watch too much propaganda TV. Birchers are pro-Constitutionalist, which is why central bankes use their media to attack them. You regurgitate central banker propaganda.

How proud you must be to not have a mind of your own.
