Gold and Silver Hit Record Highs Overnight

Investor appetite for shiny metals is unstoppable. What scares me is that we see no real parabolic moves that would suggest a resting period or correction; instead we have  steady consistent march “to the moon Alice.”

Gold topped $1512 per oz and silver reached $46.86 per oz…..

ISuppli Cut its iPad Shipment Estimates by 9%

“….Apple, the largest technology company by market value, probably faced issues including quality concerns over liquid- crystal displays and shortages of speakers, which disrupted supply of the tablets, ISuppli said.

Problems during the quarter weren’t related to the record March 11 earthquake that struck Japan, while quake-related component constraints may limit Apple’s production in the second half, the researcher said.”

With Vegas Desperate For Business; They Generate the Meme of “Sin City”

“Every time we have a new venue come here that brings thousands of people, it is good for the city,” said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “The word gets out that Vegas is a good place to party.”

Critics, however, warn that Las Vegas has turned a blind eye on the rave festival’s darker side. A 15-year-old girl died of an Ecstasy overdose following last year’s L.A. event, and more than 226 people needed emergency medical treatment. There were 114 arrests for misconduct, drug possession and other charges.”

Reports Q3 (Mar) earnings of $0.55 per share, $0.07 better than the Thomson Reuters consensus of $0.48; revenues rose 22.5% year/year to $142.4 mln vs the $141.4 mln consensus. Co issues downside guidance for Q4, sees Q4 revs of $138-146 mln vs. $146.54 mln Thomson Reuters consensus. “Our current outlook assumes some near-term revenue headwinds from consumer notebook market dynamics and, as previously indicated, the continuing mix shift within our delivery model for touchscreen solutions. However, with that mix shift we also expect our gross margin percentage to increase, providing additional operating leverage to our business model. Moving forward, we are very pleased with the level of interest we have seen in our expanded product portfolio.
