The Obama effect: Solar bounce imminent

Anyone else catch anything from Obama’s plans during his tenure this weekend?  I did catch something about jobs and alternative energy.  Maybe this will bluff the shorts to cover.  What do you think?

“Obama announced Saturday to create or save 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding infrastructure and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.”  -http://www.mercurynews.com/greenenergy/ci_11050918

Some believe that energy should be a top priority.

Alternative energy, mainly solar stocks, have been so beat up, I’m quite interested to see how this plays out.  As you know, I always have alternative plays on a post-it note.  My plan is to swing long this stocks, then short them on a fade.  Requirements for holding them are a (1) declining Vix, especially under 65 would be good for bulls, and (2) volume in rallies.  Again, these are trades, not investments, therefore if the sector gets “boring”, then pick another battle, otherwise if volume picks up we can rally to the 20day, higher probability to the 10day.  Here we go!…

Why take a chance in solar maybe bouncing when the surefire beneficiary of this will be CX? You know how much cement they need to create 2.5 million jobs? Obama talked a lot this weekend about “wind farms” and rebuilding our “crumbling roads and bridges”. Personally, I think the wind farm deal is gonna take awhile? But those road jobs – shit, the Dems will be pumping those out as fast as they can. Cement is the play here.

    Mr. Gio, sir,
your thoughts on this headline “Stock Market Soars On Reports Geithner Will Head Treasury”.

If you please. Apparently this is what the media accredits Friday to.

Celtics Fan… slowly dying? 10-1 son. Looks like they are killing it.

Hurry up and jump off the celtics bandwagon you jumped on last year.

El Ditto: they forgot to say that the market soared on short covering. Just look at the parabolic slope at the close on LOW volume relative to the intraday chart. Bears are looking for any excuse to cover.

Volcanic: for a trade, I would say SPWRA is better since RealMoney hates them.

How about wind energy stocks? My understanding of the tech is that (other than transmission issues) wind is way more practical than solar, so I would expect to see more actual investment there.

I also like ESLR for a trade.

Solar has a chance to bounce, if there ever is any follow through. There has been little to no follow through for so long, I can’t remember what it’s like to have any.

By the way, my wife loves the Kona Classic coffee you had on your blog a while back. We get 4 bags fedex every now and then. Good stuff.
