Feeling Lucky, Punk?

I don’t get these “Euro-ministers.” Why do they go out of their way to debunk rumors that they are working on a PIGS debt solution? It’s hysterical, frankly. If you are buying here, essentially, you are gambling on the Europeans’ ability to quell this crisis. Ask yourself, “is this a viable thesis?” I am not advocating going short and betting on the world burning to a cinder. Instead, I choose to be a spectator, not a participant.

This is one of those weird moments in time where I have no interest in playing this tape. I am sure it will pass and I’ll be back to shooting arrows tipped with nuclear warheads at errant helicopters in no time at all. But for now, I am net short, with a 70% cash position.

Today’s tell, as always, is TLT.

Look, best case scenario, we get a flush out from here to October, so that we can properly enjoy a Thanksgiving to Christmas rally. I am NOT optimistic on the economy. However, I am very bullish on the shit Santa Claus brings to the table. While you little fuckers are sleeping, he parks his whip on your roof, then breaks into your bullshit house. He doesn’t take his filthy boots off, stepping all over your Persian rugs, eating your cookies. Sometimes he brings his fucking reindeer into your house too. He is truly an egregious man.

In closing, with my money, I am doing nothing. I will be traveling throughout NYC this morning, in my 1980’s style stretch limousine, tossing jumping jacks at piker brokers down near Wall Street. I like to see them jump.

In case you had any doubts about the legitimacy of Greece’s comittment to austerity:

“The conservative opposition New Democracy party said a shortage of ink had prevented the computerised tax centre at the finance ministry from sending out claims to taxpayers over the last 10 days. There was no response from the finance ministry to the claim.”…

The thing you have to ask yourself is: are you faster than the hft’s hooked up to twitter and the news feeds, when some no name dipshit Eurocrat floats another turd to see what the markets “reaction” is. Soros reflexivity in action.

The tail does wag the dog.

There is money enough to bail out Greece……but not Spain and Italy. So the game plan is to backstop Greece, hoping that Spain and Italy can still access the private capital market at reasonable interest rates.

If that works…….they may limp through until Greece can do an orderly withdrawal from the Euro and a devaluation.

But if the Bond Gods drop Thor’s Rate Hammer on Spain and Italy…..

Maybe many of you are spectating as opposed to participating today and can offer some advice (to me – not The Fly obviously).

Anybody have any suggestions on a good online service to prepare a Schedule D (taxes)?

      You are in luck.
Starting this tax year the brokers are required by the IRS to forward to them and you complete documents reflecting your basis and gains and losses (including wash sales).
I believe this only applies to equities and futures and commodities next year or so.
Look it up or ask your broker.

That sounds good going forward. I am a few years behind though… need to do 2009 and 2010 to get the gubment off my back. Figuring the wash sales is the part that is so overwhelming when you are talking thousands of trades… with many being the same stock.

    Fellas (and Nymph),

I am headed to NYC next week for the first time (I don’t count the hopelessly inept National-Lampoon-Vacation-style trip with my parents in the 80’s). Looking for recommendations to do, see, and eat. I’ll be there 3 days.

Lay it on me and thanks,
    Mad Willie

      Willie

Just got back from NYC.I love the city and derive enormous pleasure from exploring it,sans plan… I head out in the morning with a general direction in mind, and start hiking; there is always food or drink available within a few blocks, so you don’t need to pack anything. Take a camera, for you will see many interesting, funny and sometimes breathtaking things….

      To eat:
      Katz’s Delicatessen (pastrami)
Russ and Daughters Appetizers ( an emporium of deliciousness)
Sylvia’s (chicken and waffles w/ collard greens, in Harlem, don’t be scared)
Sabrina’s Pizza (under the Williamsburg bridge, Brooklyn side. Get the “Grandma”)
Bear in mind, I don’t usually dine in “one-word name estblishments”, as I am generally unimpressed with expensive, fiddle-fucky food,so these rec’s are all Plebian friendly.

      To do or see:
Museum of Natural History ( esp if you have kids)
Tenement Museum ( excellent historical exhibit)
Financial district is full of interesting things
Trinity Church;resting place of A. Hamilton and R. Fulton
      Museum of Modern Art
Frick collection ( unreal glimpse at the living conditions in the Gilded age,)
I would also recommend avoiding Times Square (fun to see once) it is chalk-full of mouth breathing cheap trinket-seekers, who stand in your intended path at all times…….
