LOL. Thank you for this. I got rather annoyed when I read that tweet this morning, by doug kass
what a fool he is making himself to be with the “i hear gnomes talking and they say this” shit.
Chess,
if Doug is short gold (I’m not sure if he is or isnt) and puts out false rumors to help his position, isn’t that illegal?
Twitter is fun and all, but what difference is what he did from what the “evil” shorts did to Lehman before the crash when the rumors were flying.
Doug Kass sucks by the way. Everyday he makes a “generational” call that disregards his prior calls.
OK, F^& twitter and f%^& doug kass
Excellent points.
axetchully…. If I may politely disagree…
Kass seems to be exceptionally good at feeling out inflection points in the market. When he called for a yearly bottom last summer (which he did twice, once prematurely on i think may 24 and then once later, at about exactly the right time) I read back through a couple years worth of “the edge” and found him bullish at essentially all significant lows in the market. In the big meelee after lehman, he suggested with S&P at around 900 that some kind of bottoming process may have started but he was still cautious, on the big nasty down 6 or 7% day in early Dec 2008 he suggested that stocks bought now might look really smart in a few years, and then he called the generational bottom about half a week early, and about one week after the day the market took off on Pandits memo he posted a chart that called for S&P 1070 by around September.
He does make alot of calls… but as far as I have been able to tell his bullish ones have been very valuable.
He seems to turn bearish a bit too early, or maybe sometimes alot too early, let others judge. But he has gigantic hairy balls in that he lays his calls out, with associated reason, for the world to see. Like IBC, he moves in and out and long and short far too quickly for me to follow his trades at all, but I enjoy reading him a great deal, as I enjoy reading IBC, and he is a permanent part of my barometer for when to buy a dip.
and I don’t think he mentioned a short position in gold, and I can’t recall seeing one of his posts on realmoney not mention a position when relevant.
Thanks DOUG for your input!
If you are not DOUG, your man crush is not only GAY (not that there is anything wrong with that) but his hairy balls (your gayyy words) being stuck in your moth and right in front of your eyes are blinding you a bit.
Should have said “up turning inflection points”. Every commentator has their ups and downs, kass no exception, but he gets an irrationally high level of shyte for being a lot less wrong than a lot of people nobody rips on, and right often enough as well.
ROFL
lol!
@checklist– Kass is MUCH better at calling bottoms than tops.
Lol, yeah the top calling has been problematic.
Corrected mis type
I’ll have you know, I did not add to my short book today, for the first time all year … in fact I got loooonger ….. down she goes tomorrow, like a hooker on maternity leave
don’t ask what that means … i’ve knotta clue
kass noted the widespread dissent in the blogosphere after his twit, but maintained that it was a true rumor
