The economy tanked hard when Reagan took office. He had to untangle the mess put in place by Carter. His second year in office GDP -2%, the democrats rubbed their hands in glee. But in four years GDP +7.5% so in the ’84 election he won 49 states.
Electoral votes 525 to 13.
Obama in 8 years GDP +2.3% and he has 58% approval.
America no longer exists, it’s only in the history books now.

Can’t compare present GDP to past GDP… completely different type of economy… like comparing baseball players from different eras. Compare US to others like Germany, France, UK, Japan etc.. We are doing better than those countries. Technology destroys jobs in modern economies.
You can compare this to that and this year to that, but the story is far more complex than that.
