President obama Does Not Like Cajun People

Dear President,

Where are you? Southern Louisiana just experienced in what many are calling, “a 500 year flood”. Many cities, neighborhoods, are underwater and remain that way. Interstates, highways, & main roads are destroyed, flooded, impassable.

It’s not over. Now, my area is experiencing back flooding from main rivers and tributaries. Many who thought they were dry, are no longer dry.

Words on a stupid blog post could never show the heartache and pain many are experiencing right now, this very second. This video, however, does do a good job:

__

Mr. President, where are you (CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO)?

@RaginCajun – I agree that Obeezy needs to hop off HRC’s campaign train and go help the people of S. Louisiana.

What I don’t understand is how the hell people end up in situations like that. Was this lady blindly driving through 2 feet of water until it became 4 feet of water?

I know about flash-flooding being from a costal area part of Hurricane Ally, but that’s never helped me understand why people are about to often minutes from drowning in the event of flooding.

      No idea.

I guess when you are caught off guard, you panic. And, will do anything to try to get out.

I certainly understand home flooding & being stranded in your house.

At any rate, I’m sure that area is well covered by the insurance companies.

The people holding the bag on this one are those IRA’s with shitty short-term cat bonds with insurance risk linked to La.

Lots of insured, but not for flood – many of the homes had never flooded before, as RC said – they were new, built in sugar cane fields that became more valuable for subdivisions. Flood certifications said they don’t flood except for in a 1000 year event, so no flood insurance required on the mortgage. Last estimate I heard is that ~15% of homeowners in LA have flood insurance. Many people are going to eat this and it isn’t going away. My mom lives in “downtown” Youngsville (RC will get that) on a built up lot, so she stayed dry, but most of her neighbors are not…..

He’s probably golfing? That’s my guess. He didn’t have time for the Milwaukee situation. He doesn’t have time for this. He does have time to share his Spotify playlist and cheer on select Olympians.

Floods are weird things – they get a little press, but aren’t exciting like a hurricane, so they leave the consciousness really quickly. Only ones that remember are the ones that have to clean up.

Unless you live in it, you don’t get it. I have family that used to live on the Louisiana Gulf Coast (Johnson Bayou, Creole, Cameron) for 70 years – went through Hurricane Audrey and rebuilt, but once hurricane Rita and then Ike hit, they were done – cost too much and was too hard, so they moved up to Lake Charles

“Obama issued the disaster designation shortly after speaking with (LA Governor) Edwards on Sunday, the White House said in a statement.

“The US president’s orders make federal aid available in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St Helena and Tangipahoa. Other parishes could be added.”

    @K_melancon :

If you have access to a Bloomberg go ahead and look up the fund holdings for the reinsurance risk companies inside the various “Catastrophe” funds.

Insurance companies have been insuring the shit out of everyone and everything without a care in the world to if it makes geological sense b/c they simply sell the risk out to investors now.

They do this because the cat bond market has exploded and they can sell the insurance premiums to GS and other bond structuring firms for them to be turned into high yielding short term bonds.

it made sense when they yielded between 9-14% but b/c the Fed had driven everyone into a yield frenzy they’re able to sell the same super risky products for 4-7%, 1/2 the interest investors demanded before QE.

This year’s suppose to be the a super big hurricane season & some of these idiot yield starved bond investors are about to get smoked.

Good info – thanks – I guess 2 sides to this – the insurance risk that is farmed out and then the homeowners who did not buy the risk transference vehicle….

Yes, but we have a division of bashing sources– I mean news sources. Certain “news media” bash Democrats constantly, regardless of what they do or don’t do. Others only bash Republicans. We have a whole new conception of what “news” is nowadays. Everyone can choose their “news”, according to which party they enjoy bashing.

My sentiments exactly. People expect the president to just show up at every disaster on the spot. It’s rediculous. These people should be bitching at the governor. If tye state can’t handle it they should ask for Federal assistance. That’s the way it works.

I live in a low to moderate risk flood zone and do get flood insurance even though it is not required as I don’t have a mortgage.
Having lived in Florida since the 1960’s I understand what can happen when a tropical storm/hurricane turns stationary 24-48 hours and dumps endless rain.
The odds of this happening are much higher than fire, tornado, etc. for regular homeowner’s hazard insurance.

Give me a break. Things are not as they seem. For shame someone should stand up for responsible spending. Why would the Smithsonian and Amtrak need pork induced funds for Sandy. Why would other federal departments need money. It was a money grab pork filled bill. I wish I was your brother and you would lend me 50,000 to get me out of my 8000 problem. I wish I could short the common sense of libs.

I know it’s hard for today’s youth to fathom this but you are on your own and you have to deal with it. Once you are armed with this information you can act accordingly.

The Coast Guard is the only organization that does not have to wait for orders from a politician, they immediately go into action saving lives. The Natl guard, FEMA and DHS will sit in their trucks in a parking lot waiting for the signal and then drive to the wrong location.

Continued prayers for you and your family RC. I have family in Denham Springs and other areas. All are scattered now which is upsetting to my Aunt and cousins who live in the area, everyone trying to stay in contact and safety. As you said, homes that have never flooded before, have water. One of my cousin’s lost his house. It is a continuing struggle, but the news media glosses over most of it. One thing I know, Louisiana natives are strong and stand together.
