Stocks To Buy When Destructive Hurricanes Form

The following names have worked well when a major hurricane is threatening the gulf coast. We’ll start with the most obvious, the generator play $GNRC:

__

Don’t forget $BGG, they have generators as well. The technicals here are troublesome though, but can definitely squeeze if Harvey is bad enough:

__

The next two are the obvious dividend paying names, the Hurricane Staples: $HD & $LOW:

__

And, of course $DE, $CAT, & $HEES:

___

Lump USG in there, people will need sheetrock, THERE WILL BE FLOODS:

__

Next up, Roofing via $BECN, Which has already started to squeeze higher:

__

$CLH, Environmental clean up:

__

And the usual suspects, the energy patch, refiners especially: VLO, TSO, DK, WNR, HES, NOV, & OII.

Godspeed Texans. The Cajun Navy will be there if necessary.

Oil Has A Nice Rounded Bottom

Look, I’ll be the first to say it, this may not be the bottom for oil. But, take a look at how the 30 minute chart of crude oil is setting up here:

The first thing that pops out at me is how price is coiling up right at resistance, we call this building momentum. Also, check out how the chart is rounding out the last few weeks. The commodity started rejecting lows exactly a week ago, last Thursday.

The oil industry is absolutely hated right now, and I’m looking for a big trade here. Quite frankly, I’m a buyer on any strength in the commodity. As a matter of fact, I got a head start buying $RDC near the close on Wednesday. I did this, because Exodus told me to (See HERE).

As long as oil holds $47 and a half, this trade works. Let’s see if the oil bulls show up here, it is hurricane season after all.

$FCX Freeport-McMoRan Makes The Buy List

We have a stock screener inside our trading software, Exodus, that points to strong stocks gaining momentum in their overall hybrid score. For members, this “Buy List” can be bookmarked and saved HERE.

Today’s screen pointed to an old favorite here at iBC, good ol’ $FCX. If the stock can take out today’s high at 14.89, the stock has a chance to break $15 and run. Take a look at this beauty of a daily chart, right up against resistance:

__

As a bonus, and unrelated to $FCX, check out $PDLI which landed on our “Squeeze Zone” screen. This screen is basically the buy list with a short percentage factor built in. In other words, this screen looks for stocks ready to squeeze short sellers:

How Are We Feeling Out There? Bullish or Bearish?

With all the major indices falling and closing below key moving averages and the VIX creeping back up above 15, how are we feeling out there? Vote below:

I can’t imagine too many people eager to buy stocks ahead of the weekend, but who knows. Futures are up modestly as I type, however one crack and the gates of hell may open up.

Trade cautiously here.

What’s On My Buy List?

Here’s a look at a few names on my radar, all of which come straight from the “buy list” inside Exodus. For members of our premium trading service, you may save the “buy list” HERE.

The first name that jumps out at me is $BZUN. The stock made a powerful move today, up 13%, closing above the all important $35 level. As long as it stay above $35, it should be good to go here:

___

$SFUN, another Chinese name, has landed on the buy screen. Dips should be meet with buying so long as the 50 & 200 day moving averages hold here:

__

$ATI – This one keeps popping up on my screens, and should be monitored here as it tries to break free from a multi-year base. Take a look at the 2year weekly chart:

___

If gold breaks free here, $NGD is a name you want to be long according to my Exodus buy list:

My screen also likes, $IAG:

& $GG with strength in Gold:

__

Today’s full list can be found HERE. See you guys at the open…
