Searching For A Bottom

I ran a few more screens in The PPT searching for companies with good fundamentals and good growth, that are close to their 52wk lows.

Stocks less than 10% from their 52wk low, with debt/equity under 2x, qtrly earnings growth over 10%, qtrly revenue growth over 10%, and a fundamental score over 5. Disregard GMCR, that thing is a hell hole.

lastly, running a GARP screen, sorted by hybrid score highest to lowest, some names pop out. GORO and SLW, a gold company and a silver company respectively.

Now I am off to get my oil changed, [no homo].

EDIT

Here is the newest screen: less than 10% from their 52wk low, with debt/equity under 2x, fundemental score over 5, sorted by year over year earnings growth percentage change.

TWIN is starting to look pretty compelling…I may use it to do a valuation model post.

  1. looks good man!

is that “quarterly revenue/earnings growth” year-over-year growth or is that sequential quarter-over-quarter growth?

i’d probably use year over year growth instead of qoq because a lot of businesses are seasonal (think GME or retail sales/earnings growth going from summer quarters into xmas) so they can have good looking qoq growth but relative to last year is what matters.

  2. I believe it is sequential, I’m swap it to year-over-year, and add seasonality

  3. Question: how the hell am I supposed to reply to all of these posts?

Your effort here is commendable, though I fear it might be in vain (I’m guilty of always being on the lookout for new long opportunities as well). If not immediately, we are almost certain to test the lows we put in today at some point in the coming weeks. Unless you are looking to build positions to lock in higher yields, trying to find a bottom is a tough tough game (as many of us can attest to).

IMO, a significant cash position and/or very short term trades are where it’s at right now (thanks Captain Obvious).

    • yeah, i don’t mind sitting heavy in cash and just waiting to buy margin calls either.

    • Yeah man totally. I think we haven’t reached the bottom yet, but I am looking for some opportunities. I added shorts as a % of the float, and am running that screen now.
