First off, let me give Market Monk an early congratulations for winning the 2nd annual MadStock of the year tournament. What are the odd of winning two years in a row? And, on top of that his pick in Trina Solar Limited (ADR) [[TSL]] was up 400%! Job well done my friend, I am anxious to see what your pick will be for 2010.
HUGE WIN!

Take a look at the solar ETF [[TAN]] , near breakout levels:
How about some Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) [[STP]] ? I like it above $17.68:
JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) [[JASO]] BTFO today, and continued higher in after hours due to the company announcing a share repurchase program:
I also like Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. [[ENER]] here, siting right above th 50 day moving average. I bought some today, noted in The PPT and placed a stop below the 50 day.

JASO party tonight. your market skills are on fire RC
Keep an eye on ENER, on any strength this one can run.
STP has been a favorite of mine for some time.
I took a little off today on expected resistance but still long and will reload.
With the JASO news, I’m thinking it might give the sector enough juice for STP to BTFO. I will be keeping a close eye on it.
Nice IHS on that STP … will add some asap based on your rec and this guy’s:

Also liking ENER and will pick some up in the morning …
thnx
who is this mysterious market monk?
He’s actually a good friend of mine. His pick for 2008 was short ABK, he shorted that sucker all the way to the ground.
Maybe I will see if I can get him to do a guest spot on the blog.
Congrats Monk, you killed it again!
STP’s up 48% for the year, and still just middle of the pack. Craziness.
It “only” needs to gain ~40 more points, to match TSL. Dayamn.
I’ve been looking into solar panels on my new house, and Suntech appears to make the most affordable panels, along with Canadian Solar.
ENER looking interesting this morning
JASO party again tonight
ENER about to rip holes in short sellers.
Top pick here.
Hey RC, you worried about the limited upside with the 100 and 200 day MA right above? However, its sitting right on the 50 and that is normally acts like a springboard!
some worry, but at the same time should price slice through MAs, BTFO!
ENER Short Interest as % of Float is 35.88%
That is insane and too good to pass up
I’m in
indeud!
added some ENER @ $11.40
Watching RUTH for a pullback and thinking of entering DPTR … any thoughts on those?
Took down some DPTR at yesterdays close @ $1.08 … looking good!
Ruth finally pulled back hard but holding out till she tests the 200 or pokes her head above the 100 …
hey RC ,
As you said ADM nicely bounced from yesterday low ..
sweet ……….
Few days back you indicated that you are a buyer of IPI @ 29 , today morning exactly in that place IPI bouned nicely .
Are you a buyer now for IPI ?
yep, noted in the ppt to buy the dip @ $29
Thanks RC.
Although the year is not quite over it is best to remember that “Anything can happen”.
I once gave advice to someone who was causing quite a stir in the blogging community – “choose between being a kick ass blogger or being an outstanding trader”. With all that has been going on in my life I had to take that advice to heart and therefore shut down my blog and used it to focus on trading. I am glad to report that 2009 has been my best year so far, not that my returns where anywhere near that of TSL, but more so in areas like well defined rules, better control over my emotions, better usage of options, etc.
Regardless how 2010 unfolds, those who trade will do very well.
Thanks for running the contest. I look forward to submitting my pick just prior to Christmas.
Hope all had a good year,
Market Monk
Last year TSL dropped from $10 down into the $6 level before turning around and starting it’s ramp higher. This year LIWA has dropped by the same amount, lol. As the old saying goes: “It’s not over till the fat lady sings” LOL
