Wholesale prices were up almost a full percent in January, I cannot imagine why.
Despite the dollar being somewhat oddly surge-ish this morning, gold and silver are holding strong. We are in the right place, here. I loaded almost to the brim yesterday, in AGQ, ANV, SLW, EXK, PAAS, SIL, and AAU, as reported yesterday in The PPT.
Funeral is this morning, so I will try to ring in later today. Carry on.

Also, that article is great. I mean, the price of diesel and gas are rising, but so is the cost of all basic materials. Blaming it on fuel prices is silly, when the biggest underlying issue that affects all the inputs is the dollar.

Nice gimmick to try to make up for those weak earnings. I care that they are Canadian assets, not as much about what they are keeping their cash in.
In this specific case (though other companies are doing it too) I think it might be related to Pan American planning to purchase Orko (OK) in the next few months, and don’t want their bank account to drop a few percent before they make it happen. A lot of credible folks (especially those in the heart of PM supply chain) don’t see the USD as a AAA asset. The outstanding liability of the US gov’t is already affecting currencies that people do business in (and not just between China and Russia)
Though Canada’s deficit spending really pisses me off too. It’s just at a slightly less aggressive pace than US spending. Though we are less likely to get involved in any new wars to stimulate our economy.
I put this out here as an idea for you down southers. Might want to open a Canadian trading account, as the CAD will probably get 10% or more up on the USD in the next 12 months. Plus then it opens the doors to many mining companies, and broadens your options with your current picks. Free extra 10% this year. Why not? SLW is traded in Canadian dollars too (for example).

Jake I’m not a big fan of either of Dodd. To me he’s another pantywaste do nothing who was born wealthy and walked the path that was given to him. But I’ve looked into the rates and terms of his mortgages and they weren’t out of line with competing rates at the time. The FOA, Friends of Angelo Program didn’t do much for him. Maybe they did for others though (FOA always reminds me of FOC, Friends of Carlotta, from Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid!)
The better story, worthy of popcorn, imo, it the article Matt Taibbi just wrote for Rolling Stone that goes over how nobody has been prosecuted for the crimes committed over the financial collapse. Great reading. The better read might be about Darrell Issa’s past. What a shitbag!
