God Bless Massachusetts

 Minuteman

______________________

Y’all probably think I’m putting you on.

But I’m not.   I stand today in awe of the recuperative powers, the very resiliency of the American people.   Deep down, we are a people who almost universally subscribe to the simple concept of “leave me the fuck alone,” and let me just say, I love you all for it.

That Massachusetts, a state so reliably liberal Democrat that — in my lifetime –it has never been in play from the Republican side, could send such a resounding trumpet blast to those in the Washington D.C. power structure who would seek to usurp our liberty, well… it just has me kneeling in respect to our collective polity.

Thank you, Massachusetts.  Thank you for issuing the second “Shot heard ’round the world,” almost 235 years after the first.

God bless you all, and God bless the United States of America.

IAG is now my largest position. I’m pleased I waited for this pullback, but I hope the run isn’t over yet.

I am most happy for a balance of power, it doesn’t matter which party as absolute power corrupts absolutely.

In his victory speech, Brown alluded to his campaign ads featuring his pickup truck, which the president mocked in a campaign stop Sunday: “When I spoke to the president, the first thing I said: ‘Would you like me to drive the truck down to Washington so you can see it?’ ”

The irony is that he is taking over Kennedy’s seat whose sole focus in life seemed to be universal healthcare, and brought the reform to the congress. In addition, the dems had changed the rules from allowing governors to seat a replacement in the event of a death/removal from office because they were concerned about Romney (a republican) placing a republican as a replacement. 🙂

Yes, Jake expressed a nice hope and a comforting sentiment. Often he lactates emotion and suspends all thought.

Yes, Americans generally subscribe to “leave me the fuck alone”, but they don’t consistently honor “leave the other guy alone” …and they do want their free lunch before you leave them alone.

Even your douchebaggery can’t erase the glow of warm feelings I feel for you Massholes today, Purdy.

However, your bit about “emotionalism” struck me as even more fodder than usual for ironic comment.

How’d that hissy-fit vote for the Losertarian work out for you? Luckily, the majority of conservative and pragmatic Massachoo-ites didn’t put their stubborn pride in front of their concern for their country and families, and saved your ass in spite of yourself.

              A few brief comments:

              1. I thought you two were going to find some common ground. I guess not 🙂

              2. I ignored [ err… strongly disagree with] the “Often he lactates emotion and suspends all thought.” part of the Mr. Purdy’s comment.

              3. The fire and brimstone that Jake reigns [sic] down on his political opponents is one of my favorite parts of this blog.

              4. The preemptive Rahm strikes of sending Chris Dude out the door early seems not to be working too well for the Dems. I’d wager Simmons beats Blumenthal here in the land of steady habits.

              5. Looking more and more like gridlock in 2011.

              6. The Choakely [sic] loss is probably the best thing that could happen to the Democrats. It’s the 2×4 across the head to pay attention to the midterms. Apparently losing governor’s races in 2009 was not enough.

Agreud. It’s really all up to Obama and his handlers (aforesaid evil Chicago bastage Rahm, and Axelrod, who makes Karl Rove look like a girl scout) now.

Either they “do a Clinton” and tack right, thereby saving Obama’s hide in 2012, or they continue off the cliff with Nan and Harry (Harry is already at the bottom of the cliff, shattered)… I guess we’ll see.

Actually, I don’t think they can do a Clinton and tack right. Or, well, they can talk a gae on the deficit. But if they had brains, they’d bring it to the Reps. The strategy up till now has been to play the moderate. That hasn’t worked–and it won’t work, since moderation and reasonableness does not satisfy the blood-lust of the unwashed. My guess is–and I’ve made this one before–is that Obama is going to play the populist card, and we’re going to see the black/urban/working poor vs. the numnutz deer hunter proto-fascists going head-to-head. The tea-partyers are going to get their chance to take on the govt and show what unpatriotic little shitheads they really are.

                  Here is my prediction:

                  1) Some tea-party types are going to call for various un-american activities…and, within 12-months, we’re going to see a right-wing domestic terrorism incident.

The Reps don’t have a leg to stand on, so the best they can hope for is to call into question the legitimacy of the govt. It’s more or less acceptable in your circles to do that anyway. It is at that point that the libertarians will show their real stripes (in deutsche!). We already know that there was an assassination plan on Obama. 50/50% that the domestic terror thing will be just such an attempt.

I will say, though, that your VECO call is good. AIXG is up, too, today, but not as much as VECO. I wish I’d looked under their hood.

Nah, you libs are always measuring someone else’s apples into your own solipsistic half barrel.

Most folks in the alleged “tea party” were up to now largely a-political, in that they may have supported candidates, etc, but for the most part, they were too busy to get involved in any serious “protest movements” thanks to jobs, kids, etc.

In their minds, that shit was for the hippies with more pot than employment time on their hands.

But these burgeoning tea party types have been riled up by what they see as a divergence in the traditional political structure — a hijacking if you will — and this has caused them to give up some of their valuable time to protest what they see as a bad direction for the country.

But for the most part, they are law-abiding, clean living mom & pop types, not nutbags like the professional protestors of the left, some of whom protest for a living!

Did you see footage of any of the before and after photos of the Mall after the big September 12th protest? Clean like no one had ever been there, because, like boy scouts, all those citizens cleaned up after themselves.

And you think they’re going to transform into bomb throwers like the lefty puppet paraders? These mom-jeans wearing middle Americans?

As Dana Carvey as Bush I used to say — “Not gonna happen.”

Nibble more at 15.75. Seems the dollar markets think the election of Mr. Brown* will somehow alleviate our inflationary threat (due to the death of Obamacare).

Of course, Obamacare was not our only (or even our largest) inflationary concern.

Attention Pig Headed Libertarians — it’s better to reform from the inside than from the outside. From Libertarian-leaning Glenn Reynolds today:

And on the third-party front, the Tea Party enthusiasm for Scott Brown bespeaks considerable pragmatism. Republicans who are seen as sellouts may face third-party challenges — or primary challenges, or both — but support for Brown indicates that people aren’t in a “take your marbles and go home” mode yet. Throwing a monkey-wrench into the ObamaCare works was seen as more important than getting the perfect candidate in, and that was a very wise move. I suspect that we’ll see similar pragmatism between now and November, but the GOP should also remember — as was shown in NY-23 — that making an example to encourage the others can be pragmatic, too.

Well, actually a very similar capitulation was uttered by the Congressional Reps on Bush’s Social Security reform idea, if you remember that episode.

One of the reasons the GOP Congress of Bush’s Era (2001-2006) was such a spectacular failure, imho.

(The other more weightier issues were their overspending)

And don’t give Barney any kind of halo here — he is just making a politcal calculation like an old pro, to save his caucus’s skin.

In fact, the brunette was one of the most stunning women I’d ever seen on a political show this side of Nora O’Donnell in her prime (she ain’t looking as great these days, unfortch).

What’s up with that? Is O’Blowhard trying to spice up the sagging ratings? Good move, I say.
