I recommended Everybody’s All American (1988) a few years back. But, just in case you missed it or needed the reminder, with the football season coming to a close tomorrow evening via the Super Bowl I thought now would be a good time to re-recommend it.
I consider this one a classic, and it is easily my favorite football movie of all-time.
Based on the novel by Frank Deford, Jessica Lange, Dennis Quaid, Timothy Hutton, and John Goodman star in this gripping and memorable tale of life and football.

LoL…close, but no cigar, Unc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwT2ui-Ze38 …Chess, have a good night and Super Bowl Sunday!!!
You too, my friend!
I agree.Waterboy makes me cry everytime.”Women are the devil!”
I’ve actually never seen this one. I will check it out. For football movies I really like Friday Night Lights. It’s a pretty good representation of how important high school was and still is in here in Texas. I hear the book is better though, but then again when don’t you hear that about any book turned into a movie?!
Yup!
Chess, I agree this is a great football film. I’ve worked as a story analyst for HBO and some smaller film production companies, so I know a little about script/film evaluation. It frustrates the hell out of me to see Roger Ebert only gave this film 2 stars and almost every other critic panned it. For a film made in 1988 that effectively captures the angst of a one-time hero dealing with fading from the spotlight, I just don’t know what the critics expect. It even holds up well today. Oh well, who cares what they think as long as we appreciate it. Enjoy the superbowl tomorrow and look forward to seeing you and everyone in 12631 on Monday.
Thanks, fred! Awesome and well said
Pah
Any given Sunday
Aaron Eckhart was pretty good in that, on top of Pacino of course.
what,,,no Brian Picalo old school fans?
good one, too!
