Well, perhaps not, when it comes to the actual flying experience these days as a passenger.
Nonetheless, the strength in airlines across the board on Monday was something to behold. Perhaps of even more significance than the price action was the heavy buy volume lighting up the tape in the industry. In particular, many regional airlines seem to be hinting at consolidation to come beyond the major airlines like United/Continental. Of course, the weakness in crude oil of late could easily be argued as the reason for an ephemeral bounce in the airlines. But the heavy buy volume on all fronts on Monday seemed to tell a more bullish story going forward.
With this in mind, keep an eye on the following regionals for further strength as they attempt to follow-through on their daily chart technical base breakouts.
