Taxpayers, cops, and the court system should not be wasting time and resources on victimless crimes. The victims here are taxpayers – they are victims of the excesses of the state – – to the extent that they can claim victim-hood at all in a democracy.
Lastly, what is the greater crime; her doing drugs that hurt only herself, or her being fined, strip searched and put in a cage. The state is committing the greater crime.
Fair points about government scope. But societal norms are still in decline. Then again, maybe that has something to do with government’s reach.
