Using The PPT Keyword Search to Develop a Thesis

One of the countless features offered by The PPT algorithm is the ability to search for a specific keyword through the company descriptions. You can then take those filtered results and create a custom screen to further hone in on the best-acting stocks, or the ones with promising potential that fit within your given thesis.

Let’s take, for example, some of the impressive action in firms related to lumber, such as BECN and WY. These are two stocks that I constantly have been mentioning as long ideas in my Weekly Strategy Session, and inside the 12631 chat room. Although I have not taken them for trades, I am proud that quite a few 12631 and Weekly Strategy Session members have, outperforming a correcting market noticeably in the process. They continue to act very well, and I would not be surprised to see them go much higher if the overall market firms up.

Let’s suppose you really wanted to take this lumber thesis to the next level, searching for under the radar stocks that might be climbing with BECN and WY. Inside The PPT, you would click on “PPT TOOLS,” then “COMPANY SEARCH,” and then enter in your keyword, here it is “lumber,” into the search box for Business Description.

Currently, there are twenty-six firms that The PPT identifies as having “lumber” in its description. Again, you can then filter these results into a custom screen.

PPT and 12631 members can click here for the initial twenty-six results.

I then made a custom screen, entitled “12631 LUMBER PLAYS,” where I filter these results to find the stocks with the best price action and momentum, according to The PPT algorithm, of course.

Please click here for the 12631 LUMBER PLAYS screen.
